Help with Estrogen headaches? |
I went to the doctor recently for headaches. They think I may have estrogen headaches. Can anyone explain more on that? I have another doctor's appointment coming up soon but i am worried and just want to know more about what to expect about what may be wrong. Estrogen headaches: you get them (they're actually migraines) when your estrogen drops. And you have more of a tendency to get migraines when your estrogen is low. If you are entering the perimenopausal period (like 35 or 40 plus), then you could be experiencing irregular ovarian activity. Like, it may be acting normally, then kind of sputter a bit and your estrogen drops quickly, which gives you a migraine. I think what docs often do in such cases is give you birth control pills so your hormone levels stay relatively regular. A good option in this regard is Mircette, because it gives you estrogen almost every day of the month. When women prone to migraines take birth control pills, they tend to get a migraine during the "off" week of the pill, because of the fast estrogen drop. Mircette is a bit better at avoiding that. |
