Am I accurate: estrogen vs progestin?

I'm researching birth control. I know certain types contain progestin and some contain progestin AND estrogen. Am I accurate to say that progestin prevents ovulation (ovaries releasing eggs) while estrogen thickens cervical mucus to prevent sperm from entering the cervix and fertilizing the egg? Or do both hormones do both of those? I'm a little confused.

How does the progestin-only contraceptive work?
This contraceptive does three things. First, like regular birth control pills, the progestin-only pill makes your body "think" that you are pregnant and stops your ovary from releasing an egg. Second, the mini-pill causes changes in your uterus (where a baby grows) that makes your uterus less likely to let a pregnancy get started even if an egg is released. And third, the progestin-only pill thickens the mucus between your uterus and your vagina. (The vagina is the passageway from the uterus to the outside of the body.) Sperm have a hard time getting through the thick mucus to reach the egg.

Birth control pills are a synthetic form of the hormones progesterone and estrogen. They prevent ovulation by maintaining more consistent hormone levels. Without a peak in estrogen, then, the ovary doesn't get the signal to release an egg. No egg means no possibility for fertilization and pregnancy. They also thicken cervical mucus so the sperm cannot reach the egg, and make the lining of the uterus unreceptive to the implantation of a fertilized egg.

This describes how each type of pill works.

hope this helps..
