Based on this information, do you think the fibroid is what is preventing me from getting pregnant?

I certainly do. I know that SOME people get pregnant just fine with fibroids, but I have always heard (from my aunts and mother) that a woman cannot get pregnant with a fibroid. Yes, everyone's individual case is different but in my case I think it is causing me a ton of problems.

I found out about this 4"-5" fibroid last year. It's on my left side and it's on the outer part of my uterus. My OBGYN said he doesn't feel it needs to be removed; however, my left tube is also damaged so he said the fibroid COULD possibly have something to do with that.

Whenever I am on my period, like right now, it cramps on my left side so bad. It's almost like my right side never gives me any problems. It's like a constant and steady pressure on my left side in my ovary area and it does that for the first few days while I'm on my period. Also, it will cramp or give me a dull ache during other times of the month.

I have explained that this give me pain pretty bad, and the last time I saw him he said with the damaged tube, the fibroid, the fact that I haven't been pregnant and the fact that I have PCOS he feels I should go see an infertility specialist ... he also said he highly doubts the fibroid is causing any problems because my tube is damaged toward the bottom where the cilia (hairlike structures that sweep the sperm in or whatever), not at the location where my fibroid is.

He mentioned that he is going to ask the infertility specialist to give him a recommendation as to whether or not that tube should be removed along with the fibroid, if it does need to come out. When I went in for an ultrasound on 03/10 he said he saw a follicle on my left ovary but couldn't tell if I had ovulated or not because the fibroid is in the way.

I don't know if I am ovulating regularly or not ... I saw egg white mucus on 03/11 so I am assuming I do some of the time.

First of all, not all fibroids are a problem, in fact most aren't. It really does depend on size and location. So don't assume anything yet about yours.

I have a couple of fibroids and got pregnant okay.

Second, get to a fertility specialist ASAP for testing. The one thing he/she will do immediately is give you an HSG test. An HSG test will tell you if your uterus and tubes are getting in the way of your getting pregnant. Until you have that done, it's only guessing. After your HSG you'll know whether that fibroid is a problem or not.
