Will a woman with PCOS and a fibroid get accurate results when using a ovulation predictor kit?

I asked my OBGYN and he said I could get a false ovulation result if I use an OPK, because of the hormones in my body due to the PCOS and fibroid. Is this true?

He said it could produce a false positive result. Also, I asked about taking my temperature using a basal thermometer and he said I could, but it's too difficult to get an accurate reading because if I move too much or if I am hot from being under the cover at night that could affect my temperature in the morning.

Women who have PCOS can not get accurate results from an OPK. It would be a waste of your time to use them. It is only because of the PCOS, not the fibroid. PCOS causes hormonal problems in your body, OPKS look for a hormone.

Don't let him discourage you about taking your waking temps. If you follow the rules, your results will be good. You will get a pattern of temps that you will be able to interpret. I have been charting for a long time and it is not difficult.

Read the book: Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. The book explains your cycle, charting and how to get pregnant. It is a great book and a must read! Check out the website: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ Buy a basal thermometer at the drug store. Start charting your waking temperature so that you can get an accurate picture of what is happening in your cycles. This information can aid you in having sex at the correct time.
