Functional Fibroids?

I have what they call functional fibroids. They get very painful before they break up and work through. Back pain, upset stomach, hormonal imbalances etc. They have decided to leave them alone. Does anyone have any information on these and what can be done with them?

birth control pills might help regulate them a bit. if they become more bothersome, get a 2nd opinion & you can have them removed. i had one that wasn't painful, but caused irregular bleeding- the surgery was easy.
