Do fibroids have a an odor? Fishy odor? I had a pap smear done no problems on this end.?

Do fibroids feed off blood?

No they don't feel off blood, in fact they are encouraged to grow by hormone levels in the body, especially estrogen. None of their symptoms include an odor.

No, fibroids have no odor. And papa smear does not check for that, but for cervical cancer.

If your vulva smells fishy, it is almost certain that you have bacterial vaginosis (also known as 鈥榓naerobic vaginosis鈥?. This is an imbalance in the bacteria in the vagina. All women have harmless bacteria in their vaginal passage. In bacterial vaginosis, some of the bacteria multiply so that more are present than is normal (it is usually the Gardnerella and Mobiluncus bacteria that are the culprits). In other words, bacterial vaginosis is not an infection caught from your partner, it is due to bacteria that are normally present in the vagina.

Bacterial vaginosis is treated with an antibiotic, metronidazole, from your doctor. You will find more information on bacterial vaginosis in the section on genital infections

Well as someone who had over 100 fibroids all over the inside and outside of my uterus not sure about the feeding off of blood thing but I was bleeding constantly from them even though I was on the birth control pill to stop bleeeding. There was no fishy odor though. Fibroids are filled with blood from my understanding. Mine was an extreme case that I had a hysterectomy for and It was the best decision of my life I feel great now and no more bleeding. But there are many treatments other then that for a less extreme case of fibroids. But no they do not have an odor.

Fibroids do not feed off of sugar but they do feed off of hormones. I agree with the response that a pap smear does not detect fibroids. The only way they can tell if you have fibroids is with an ultrasound. But if you are worried about fibroids because of a fishy smell it's totally unrelated.

Oh dear. You do understand that there is always a "fishy odor" down there, don't you? That's normal for all women. If you had a pap smear, then you also had a pelvic exam, right? So you should be fine.
