Fibroids in uterus? |
yesterday i found out i had fibroids in my uterus actually a year ago i was diagnosed thru ultra sound then six months ago another ultrasound came back showing no more, now again i have them do they cause infertility?my DR. says no but i really don't like him i'm looking for a female gyno.my periods are very long and heavy with lots of pain he says fibroids do not cause pain well what does he know he's a man.test also showed polyps in to parts of my colon and are alot scattered he says that's what's most likely causing my pain and i think it's a female problem that's causing my pain is he just trying to throw me back to my regular DR. or do you think that he's wright that i should be worried about my polps then anything else wright now,he says i'm fine in the female dept why can't i believe it?buy the way i'm 35 and it just seems impossible to have so may polyps in my colon. I had Fibroid removal surgery in April and it took care of a lot of the problems. I have always had them but pregnancy made them get bigger. I was also in the process of being a Surrogate and found out that Estrogen makes them get bigger. Mine got so big that the doctor said that if I was to get pregnant that there would not be enough room for me to carry a baby to full term. Subsequently I had a miscarriage with my couple because of their size. Go to another doctor because yours does not seem to know his *** from his hand (excuse the lang.)! They cause heavy bleeding, clotting and bad cramping. They, YES, can cause infertility unless taken care of. My doctor now (whom is male) is a second opinion doctor that I went to because my original doctor (a female) said that I should get a complete hysterectomy at the age of 31. NO WAY! I AM TOO YOUNG! My new doctor said that I would be better off having a hysteroscopy and that my uterus was the size of a womans whom would be 8-10 weeks pregnant. They ended up taking out one that was 6mm by 6 1/2mm and becoming neucrotic along with 2 medium sized ones and 5 smaller ones. Now I am completely healed and feel better than ever! I look thinner now too! A lot of women have them but they usually don't cause any problems. My doctor said that by menopause most women have them but don't feel them because menstration has stopped. Also by that time some are getting hysterectomys and they go away at that time. Please if you only remember one thing about my letter, is that above all else, get a second opinion. And a third if you are not satisfied with what you are hearing. Good luck to you! :) P.S. I looked on www.webmd.com to get info on fibroids and their treatment. Maybe it will help you in making an informed decision. Sounds like you need to get a second opinion. Polyps can become cancerous so you don't want to wait on them. Fibroid's very rarely become cancerous but there is always the possibility. Fibroids, if causing you alot of problems, may warrant a hysterectomy. There are a couple of other choices before the hysterectomy. So get a doctor that will explain all this to you and give you web sites that you can read for yourself. FYI... Fibroids cause pain with clotting and heavy bleading. You would need a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy to check for polyps. I had a fibroid tumor, the size of 5 month fetus, that caused severe cramps and clotting, I was changing 2 over night pads every 2 hours. I became anemic from losing so much blood, although I was taking an iron supplement. By the time I started having dizzy spells and fainting something had to be done. The last period I had lasted 14 days and I was miserable. A complete hysterectomy changed all of that and I've never felt better. I had a colonoscopy removed and i wasn't aware I had it. No symptoms. I would think the fiboids are causing the problem. Get a second opinion. Hi, My mentor used to be a health consultant and he said that polyps in our colon occur usually because we eat 3 meals a day but may not pass out all that is not used.... Over time, as our colon is in charge of absorbing water and nutrients, because of the leftover junk in the colon, do you think your body is absorbing water, nutrients or toxic? When that happens, your colon reacts by growing polyps.. sometimes when the colon cannot handle the massive amount of toxins, it will pass the toxins over to his neighbour.. one of the nearest and most convenient one is our uterus. You know.. just like your colleague you helping out with your work when you have to do OT and have too much on hand to do. When your uterus absorbs the toxic, it will start to grow fibroids or start to go haywire because it cannot handle the toxins. He says that most problems related to the uterus are actually related to the colon itself. You might want to go to the root of the problem and do a detox on your colon. I would recommend that you take some healthy colon-cleansing product like Fibre Plus. If you need more info, pls email me at verityy@yahoo.com Normally I would say this, but you need a new doctor. Any doctor who will tell you that fibroids can't cause pain isn't up to date on his knowledge. Fibroids can cause infertility - studies are showing that myomectomy can actually improve your ability to get pregnant. If he's telling you that the fibroids don't cause infertility he needs to go back to med school! However, you also need to have the polyps in your colon checked out. Age has nothing to do with it - if you have polyps there is a possibility you have cancer. It doesn't even have anything to do with whether you have pain or where the source of the pain is, if you have polyps you must get them checked. |
