I see that people have given you link answers, and the one that I have tried is not conclusive for answering your question.
So...............fibroids, or myomas, are formations in or on the uterus and uteral walls as well as on or in the cervix of the uterus.
The answer to the frist part of your question is: yes, thay can cause pain, especially during menstrual cycles. Ordinarily, though, mosta of the women live with them without knowing that they have them. The first suspicious sign being that they report to their gynecologist when they experience extensive menstrual bleeding.
The answer to the second part of your question is: no, they cannot cause weight gain since they have no mechanism by which they might be able to influence it. However, they are the ones being influenced by female hormones, which can make them shrink or grow.
Fibroids tend to exacerbate the various problems that come along with menses, such as cramps, bloating and diarrhea. I don't really buy the mechanical explanation of this; after all, I never had cramps until my fibroids got bad, and then the cramps went all the way down into my legs!

If the pain you are experiencing seems to be occuring along with your period, it is probably the fibroids. Same with the weight gain if it is transitory; it is bloating (water retention) from the hormonal fluctuations.

If this doesn't seem to fit, you may want to go see your doctor. However, before you go see your doctor, take a couple of weeks to track what is happening. Note when and where the pain occurs each time it happens, also what you eat and is it a high fat meal, if you take supplements of any kind, and anything else that might seem to occur near when the pain occurs. This will help the doctor diagnose what is causing the pain.

In the meantime, I recommend that you try a cholesterol reducing diet. Cholesterol is a precursor chemical to estrogen and excessive amounts in your bloodstream can cause fibroid problems to get worse.

Limit intake of animal fats where possible.
Try to avoid anything deep fat fried - even if the oil is vegetable, the high heat used for frying creates trans-fatty acids which are even more likely to raise LDL cholesterol levels.
Take a time-released niacin supplement.
Exercise more. If you aren't getting at least an hour and a half of exercise time a week, make room for it.
