My mom has fibroids in her uterus and her doctor recommends a hysterectomy but instead she is having ..? |
accupuncture. Is this a good idea? There is no reason she should not attempt a more conservative treatment first. If the acupuncture does not help at all in the first 8 (maximum) treatments then the hysterectomy may be the next best alternative. The uterus and ovaries help to regulate hormones even after menopause and it is best to try to keep them if you can. If the growths are cancerous (which in this case it doesn't sound that way) then, obviously take it out. If she is getting results from the acupuncture, why not use it? She should try some dietary changes as well. Source(s): I'm an acupuncturist. I would have the hysterectomy, but that's just me. I have a problem, I want a permanent solution, not something that may decrease my symptoms for awhile, but isn't going to cure it. my fibroids went from pea size to 25lbs in a year so the hysterectory is the best option. personal experience |
