Fibroid help?

I have uterine fibroids and was wondering if there is anything that i can do to reduce them and reduce the occasional midcycle heavy bleeding that accompanies them

There are many options but typically the only way to "reduce" them is either by reaching menopause or through a surgical procedure. One big key to fibroid treatment is having a doctor who has a lot of experience with fibroids (and who you are also comfortable with). You should also get a second opinion on any diagnosis and recommendations.

Many people try herbals to reduce the size of their fibroids, but I don't know anyone that has been successful in that (who has actual proof - like ultrasounds before and after).

As far as heavy bleeding, I recommend Traditional Medicinals tea - Raspberry leaf - three times a day right before and during your period: http://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/?id...

Cramp bark also helps (cramp bark tincture which you can find at any standard vitamin/herb shop). Mind you these things help with symptoms - I am not saying they will reduce the size.
I have a hx of fibroids and polyps of the uterus. Have had them removed via hysteroscopy/D&C. I currently have one that may have grown in the past year and will be having an ultrasound on 5/2 to check on it.

Do you have children? Do you plan to have children?

What has your gyn said about this?
One of the things you can consider, if you don't plan to have children, for the heavy bleeding, is an endometrial ablation. This is a procedure in which the endometrial lining is essentially burned away, thinning it out. For some, it lightens your period (as it did in my case). For others, it makes the period go away totally.

If you choose to go this route, though, you or your partner must implement a permanent form of birth control. I chose the Essure procedure (it was done at the same time as my ablation). It involves placing tiny coils into the fallopian tubes, causing scar tissue to build up, therefore blocking the tubes, preventing pgcy.
