Has anyone had a fibroid tumor? |
they have found a fibroid tumor down by my ovaries which is why my period is so painful and awful, they prescribed birth control pills to break it down, other than surgery are there any other options anyone knows of to get rid of this?....i don't want surgery and the birth control pills don't seem to help the pain of my period..any suggestions? Depending on the size of the fibroid, doctors might be able to cut all the blood supply to the fibroid and thus making it to shirnk and eventually disappear completly. Consult with your doctors about this. Fibroids don't generally respond to hormone therapy, they are fibrotic after all. I'm afraid that surgery is your best option in this case...suggest you discuss it with another gynecologist and get a second opinion before you decide. RN I have fibroid tumors in my breast tissue. I think that's comparable to ovarian fibroid. The first treatment I had was draining the fluid from the biggest ones causing most of the pain. They filled up immediately, so I opted to have them removed with local anesthesia. It was relatively painless and may be the best solution for you. A lot of these procedures can be done in the office or day surgery center. If it's really that painful, I think you should consider surgery. Have a local anesthesia if you're afraid of being put out. They don't usually resolve themselves without steroid treatment or draining, so make life easier on yourself and get rid of them and feel better!!! My mom had one and a hysterectomy was the only option because it was embedded into the uterine wall. i had myself undergone surgery for fibroid tumor in the uterine walls near the ovaries just when i was 21 yrs old. frankly that is the best possible way to get rid of it.the pills does help but only upto an extent and you've to be always dependant on them. You've not mentioned your age, but if you're young and want to reproduce in future, Myomectomy surgery is what you should go for. you've to get a treatment or else in future you might have to face complication related to feritility. Good luck to you! |
