I am 40 years of age and have been diagnosed fibroid of the womb and a blocked fillopian tube? |
My question is what are my chances of getting pregnant if i successfully undergo an operation to remove this tumor and correct the my tubes? Is it possible to successfully correct such a condition by surgery? It really depends on what kind of fibroid you have. If the fibroid is intramural, meaning within the wall of your uterus, the only way to get rid of it is by removing your uterus. I have that type of fibriod and have had children, no problems. If you have the type of fibroids that grow out from the uterus on a stalk, they can be removed easily. It's an outpatient procedure and your fertility should not be compromised at all. That surgery can be done vaginally. Now for that pesky block tube, I do not have first hand experience with that. But I did find a good site for you:http://www.webmd.com/infertility-and-rep... I would see an OB/gyn that specializes in patients of "advanced maternal age." I had my first child at 36, so I know all about the Advanced Maternal Age thing, and 40 isn't a big deal. You should do great, hon. Best of luck to you and take care. the may be able to remove the tumor and clean out the tube ,but don't know of your chances of getting pregnant at 40 when you say fibroid of the womb it sounds like an iffy=ask your Dr who told you that you have this problem and good luck There are several things that are working against you but anything is possible. The blocked fillopian tube is a problem. Hopefully you will ovulate out of the tube that is still normal. It also is helpful if you've given birth already. After the operation you will be "cleaned out". I had a friend who had a similar procedure and got pregnant very quickly after. However she was 32. Personally I would discuss the options with your doctor. You might want to go ahead and try IVF after the operation to improve your chances. Good luck! |
