Fibroids during Pregnancy? |
I had a dating scan yesterday which indicated I was 6 weeks pregnant. They also found a number of fibroids. I'm now a little scared and was wondering if there is any ladies that are in the same or similar situation? I had many fibroids inside my uterus when I got pregnant in December, 2006. The fibroids were growing during my pregnancy. I had a huge tummy when I was just 3 months pregnant, I looked like 9 months pregnant. The real problem was in my movement when I was 7 months pregnant. I could not seat, I could not eat because of the huge tummy. I had high blood pressure too. That's why I got admitted in hospital in my 30 weeks and that night my water broke. There was no other option other then having a surgery. A pre mature girl was born and she was fine. Doctors removed my uterus because there was so many big fibroids, the uterus was weighted around 6 Kg. Doctor told me that most of the time fibroids shrink during pregnancy, but in my case it didn't. Me and my daughter survived after so many problems. I hope you will too. Always keep in touch with your doctor, never try to avoid any discomfort you feel, consult your doctor about it, take folic acid, calcium and vitamin, take nutritious food and relax, everything will be fine. Yup :) I found out at 5 weeks or so I had one fibroid. It's a cervical one, meaning it's at the bottom of my uterus. My doc said that fibroids need a lot of blood and so does the growing embryo, so he gave me a 5% chance of miscarriage. He told me to take it easy (no running, no sex, no lifting). I did spot a bit at 9 weeks and bleed heavy at 12 weeks, but we heard the heartbeat today (at 15 weeks) so all is good so far. I was also told there was an increased chance of having a C-section as the placement of the tumor might hinder dilation. Feel free to email me :) I have, the fibroids might grow with the baby, but Im almost 37 weeks `and Im alright and so is the baby, the doctors will deal with them after the pregnancy. good luck |
