I have Fibroids and it is complicating my pregnancy. Who else Has Fibroids??

Hey ladies, I'm 22 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I have been told early in my pregnancy that I have uterine myomas (fibroids) there are about 3 large one around 7 or 8 centimeters and a few small ones also. I have been to the ER 2 times already due to crazy pain coming from these darn things. One of the fibroids I can actually FEEL when I touch my tummy it's like on the fundus area. feels like a large ball. It makes my tummy look a little lopsided. They also say It may take up alot of room in my uterus causing stunting of my daughters growth or may even cause pre-term labor. I'm worried, scared all that. Is anyone else going through this?? Yes I have spoke to my doc about my worries and she knows how much I do worry. My poor baby...Speaking of her she just gave me a cold kick EYYY!!! Thanks for taking the time to read this ladies.

If you havent had them yourself...do you know someone who has had them or has then now??

I have 2 of them. The drs after my first ultrasound at 7wks 6 days told me all the same things - that the tumors may stunt her growth, pre-term labor, etc... I'm currently at 36 weeks and everything is just perfect.

One is 6.5 and the other is 4.5. Uggghhh - I know how painful that can be. At first my dr thought I had a bladder infection but antibiotics - nothing helped. I ended up in the hospital as well for about 4 days in July - the pain was incredible. After an MRI they told me that I had 'degenerative fibroids'. Degenerative fibroids are the fibroids actually outgrowing their own blood supply and they start to die off. My Dr explained that because of all the pregnancy hormones - the fibroids grow at such an accelerated rate. They are like living organs in your body that are dying and that can be pretty painful. I was so upset leaving the hospital when he told me that there was nothing that could be done other than to manage the pain. Fortunately for me - I have not had another episode.

I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow and have had 4 ultrasounds to date. My tumors are up high above the baby and I am assured that they will not be in the way of giving birth. She is growing just fine. I am HUGE!!!! I am right on schedule with weight gain but look sooo much bigger because of the tumors (fortunately ALL belly). When people say anything - I just tell them I am carrying triplets (the baby and her 2 evil twins).

One good thing is that because of the tumors she can't really get up into my rib cage which really had bothered a girlfriend of mine who just had her baby in Aug. She is pushing the tumors up there which makes breathing a little difficult but I'll take that to a rib kick any day!!

You're Drs I'm sure will do plenty more ultrasounds to make sure everything is going the way it should. They will monitor her growth and the position of the tumors. So many women are afflicted with this and their babies come out fine. I was told the stress of worrying about it was more detrimental to her health than the fibroids. I have stopped worrying about them now that I know everything is ok.

I wish you luck! Trust your Drs - my dr told me he delivered a perfectly healthy baby to a woman whose fibroid was bigger than the baby! It will all work out just fine.

I had many fibroids inside my uterus when I got pregnant. I am 28 years old now

I had mayomas before I even got married and had a surgery to remove them. Doctor said I had only 1 chance to get pregnant. The mayomas grew even bigger in size after that surgery. Luckily I got pregnant after 2 years of that surgery.

The baby was growing well inside the uterus and the mayomas were growing fast too.

When I was around 30 weeks pregnant, my previous stitch were swelling, the tummy was as big as 40 weeks pregnancy. I could not even seat, could not eat. My blood pressure was as high as 220/180. I got admitted to hospital for the blood pressure when I was 30 weeks pregnant. Doctor kept me in ICU for whole night but could not make my blood pressure with any medicine. At 6.00 morning my water broke and there was no other option other then doing surgery.

In the morning ( 10.07.07) my surgery was done. At first doctors could not find the baby, she was covered with all the mayomas, she was under weight too. Growing mayomas did not let my daughter grow well. After 20 minutes doctor found my baby. She did not cry after she was born. She was only 1250 gram premature baby. During the surgery my blood pressure went down as low as 60/30. I needed 6 units of blood for the surgery. My daughter needed 1 unit.

Doctors tried to save my uterus but there were too many or mayomas. So finally they removed it. It was weighted 6 kg!

My daughter stayed 54 days in ICU (Incubator) and I brought her home when she was 1800 gram. Now she is 4 months old and she is healthy.

You have to be very careful about your blood pressure. Don鈥檛 do any hard work. Stay in close observation of your doctor. Never stay alone because anytime you many need help. I don鈥檛 know what your system in your hospital is but keep in mind that you may need blood. So you should keep donors ready.

I think my situation was much worse then yours. God saved me and my baby. I wish you all the best too.

here is a recent picture of my baby.
