Survey, How many people have or even know about Fibromyalgia?

This condition is becoming more & more talked about and I will state that it does exist, but it is also a very confusing issue.
It is an unseen problem that creates a tremendous amount of esculating body pain.
Imagin yourself with a body flu (without the fever) that continues to grow slowly with time. Never ends.
I had this condition and I was told there was no cure, but I couldn't accept this. I insisted on further testing, the test did find physical problems, the problems were corrected, and eventually the all over body pain faded away.
This unseen pain was a big red 911 signal that was saying that something was wrong in my system that needed to be corrected.
This signal appeared after years of improper medical treatment (began with work related injury) and I spent another 6 years fighting for disability to get proper medical. I was ready to end the pain permanetly.
With proper care, it was discovered that not only was there a work injury, but I had developed ostoprosis from having cancer at the age of 27 and my spine had bone lost and fracture in 2 seprarate area with over-all joint problems that effected the muscles, ligiments and tendons.
It's taken 6 surgeries in less than 3 years, proper treatment and a strong will to fight all of this.
My doctors sent my case to the Fibromyalgia center as proof that it is somehow related to the nervous system and a sign that something is wrong in the body.
Find the problem and the pain will go away.

I suffered for years with it.

Aren't they also known as Fybroids??? I dated a (slightly) older women once, who had these...

I have Fibromyalgia and suffer each and every day of my life. I lost my job last January due to this. I think more and more people are becoming aware of the condition but they still don't understand it. You have to admit it's hard to understand.

I know several people with it & suspect that I might have it as well. I plan on discussing with my doctor at my appt on 1-2-08.

i know four people that have it and i have read up on it so i know what there talking about .

I know about it. I work as a research assistant in the rheumatology department at our hospital, and we see a lot of it in clinic. I also work with a number of patients with FM in research studies in behavioral medicine, and biofeedback.
