Has anyone tried the new medication that came out for fibromyalgia. It's called Lyrica.?

And if you have tried it, have you had any side effects?
Me, I had pain in my ankles, my body was feeling achy and very sleepy. I thought that this pill was suppose to relieve the pain. Not make you feel worse. Also, I was not concentrating very well on things. I had to stop taking it before I got worse. Now I have to wait for something else. I was hoping that this pill would of relieve the pain. Thankyou very much for your answers. May God bless all of you and Happy Holidays.

I am a nurse in a nursing home and I have given Lyrica before to residents. It is for pain in legs, ankles, and feet. It does help them. I haven't noticed any side effect except drowziness.

If you are having side effects of drowziness & loss of concentration. I am glad you quit taking it. You may ask your doctor if maybe an NSAID (non-steriod anti-inflammitory drug) would help. These don't have side effects like that. It helps relieve pain without having that druggy feeling.

Good luck!

No, I've never tried it but I'm so sorry it didn't help you. God bless you and happy holidays to you too. :)

I'm taken a similar anticonvulasant medication called tomapax. It too made me drowsy and had real problems concentrating. My doctor suggest adding 150mg of Wellbutrin for energy. It has really helped for the drowsiness. I wouldn't give up on the Lyrica, You really have to stick with it for a while before the drowsiness goes away. The lack of concentrating goes away after a month or so. Try combining it with Wellbutrin.

How long were you on the medication? For most people after several weeks I have seen them refer to Lyrica as a god-send. My own mother suffers from fibromylagia and Lyrica is the only thing that has made her life bareable as of late. Have you tried Gabapentin previously?

God bless U,my dear.Hope you get well soon!!!!!

Lyrica, yes now been on it two years for RA, Fibro, peripheral neuropathy. I take 25 mgs at night before bed, along with 2 mgs of Valium to stop the muscle contracting. I have found it extremely good, especially with the pain from peripheral neuropathy, or nerve pain. I still drive, I still walk three miles three times per week, I am sleep well, not put any weight on, if anything lost it due to being more active. I did try some other drugs, but they just put me to sleep, Lyrica does not do that TG! However I have noted that many people take like 125mgs three times per day for Fibro? My Doc prefers to start off on a small dose and if I need more fine. When he started the Valium, it was 5mgs and I did not get out of bed for two days! I cut the pill in half, built up to it half a pill every other day and now no problem on 2mgs. Sorry Lyrics did not work for you. Good Luck
