Has anybody taken Lyrica for fibromyalgia? |
Does it work? Does it give energy? Does it help sleep? I have been taking lyrica for about 5 weeks. I too have noticed increased energy and less pain. I don't want to stop taking Lyrica but I have noticed that my appetite has increased a great deal. I think about food a lot and have never done that before. I find myself wanting to eat when I'm really not hungry. I have added 5 pounds in 5 weeks. That concerns me so I will speak to my doctor about it. I do not want to battle a weight problem too. Regarding sleep, I also take Ambien CR. Sleeping is still a problem for me. I do feel more rested in the morning but still struggle to fall asleep. Recent studies have shown that pregabalin is effective at treating chronic pain in disorders such as fibromyalgia. (Wikipedia) I've been taking Lyrica for four months now, and it's given me tremendous pain relief. Because of the pain relief I have noticed myself sleeping better which leads to more energy. I had taken Lyrica for a couple of weeks and yes it did help me sleep better but the side affects I had were not worth it. Every morning I would wake up very dizzy and found it very hard to get around. I didn't get energy from it as far as I know cause of the dizzyness I was ussually laying down so I wouldn't fall down. I have been taking Lyrica for several months for nerve pain and was just diagnosed with fibro last week. Not sure how it works on fibro pain but it worked well on my nerve pain. There are alot of side affects when starting out but if you hang in there for a few weeks it gets better. I was dizzy and foggy brained for awhile but it is better now.I have gained 15 pounds since taking this. I took lyrica a couple of years ago after surgery for nerve pain and gained weight then also. I lost most of it within 2 months after being off of it. Good luck to you! Chris I used Lyrica and found I had more complications and no relief from pain. Yes, I did gain weight while I was taking it and I cannot seem to lose the weight. I also had swelling of my feet and hands, problems with my vision, and occasional lose of balance. I did not have any noticeable energy and it did not help my sleep |
