Fibromyalgia - shoulder pain?

I have a painful bladder disorder called IC. Along with IC comes IBS (Irritable bowel syndrom) & Fibromyalgia. I've had pain always had pain some where all my life. Mainly joints like my knees, ankles and wrists. As a child I was said to be a hypochondriac. My mom always said, "If it's not one thing with her it's another."

I have yet to be told by a dr that I have Fibromyalgia but I am pretty positive I do and I was just wondering if shoulder pain is common with Fibromyalgia. Other drs have told me I have anything from tendonidous to carpel tunnel.

I woke up this morning with pain in my right shoulder down my arm to my wrist. In the past I've always thought it was carpet tunnel acting up but then it hit me! I'm a lefty and I don't even use the mouse with my right arm! I use the mouse with my left arm! I don't sit at the computer all day and when I type it isn't non stop.

So I am wondering if is likely my arm pain and other pain could be Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is inflammation of the conenctive tissues in the muscles or arthritis of the muscle tissue instead of joints. The best description on how a person feels is like having the flu symptoms for life.

Shoulder pain is very common in fibro (feels like somebdoy is trying to rip your arm out of the socket) which can radiate the pain down to the finger tips. Sometimes it can cause neck pain which then can onset migraines. Also, the pain can sometimes cause finger swelling and numb and tingliness.

Fibro likes to cycle the pain too. One month you may have as little as one day to as long as 2 weeks of pain in one particular site and then it "moves" to another site.

How to access the possibility of fibro. http://www.healthline.com/adamimage?cont... is the link of a picture that shows the classic tender points of pain. Pressing on these tender points, a fibro person feels the pain approximately 3-5 times more than a normal person. Like soembody stabbed you but it was a finger

So you may not be crazy after all. I suffered from it since age 12 (now 41) and was not diagnosed until 24 after periodically getting diagnoses of Arthritis, Lupus, MS, Lyme Disease, and other tiems just being simply told, don't know and it just may be you.

I empathize and understand your frustration with both doctors and family not "getting it" in what you are feeling. I am not a fan of anti-inflammatories as they only mess up your stomach and do very little to ease pain. However, customze your care to your needs and it is important to find a rheumatologist who has a proven track record history of successful fibro treatement as not ALL rheumatologist are good fibro treaters.

If you want more details on managing fibro if you are indeed diagnosed as having it, feel free to contact me direct.

One thing I always advise. You will never be 100% pain free. To try to achieve that will result in too much medication and you becoming more ill. It is about managing pain to a comfortable level that you can still function with what pain there is. Good luck and much prayers

Fibromyalgia is usually described as if you have a terrible sunburn, and you don't want anything touching your skin. Like not even a strand of hair. Your pain doesn't really sound like fibromyalgia.

Have you been to a pain clinic? Or just a pain specialist? It sounds like you really don't have a diagnosis! That's so sad! Look in the Yellow Pages under "Pain." I can tell you a doctor in Las Vegas who would help you. E-mail me. No one should have to live her whole life in pain. That's just ridiculous.
Good luck, hon. :)

there are trigger points 13. you need 11 to be diagonsed. Then you see a rhematoligist. pain is very common on the skin but it also effects you internally. It makes it very hard to move some times.I have had it for 3yrs. now. and some times i can hardly get out of the bed just bc I couldnt move it. muscles are sore. you can get IBS irriatable bowel syndrom, migraines it is quite painful. touching your skin hurts like a neddle prick over and over. try going to webmd.com and looking it up. I hope you dont have it, but then at least you would know. oh and you get other stuff like carpel tunnel at the same time too. I am 20 and besides all of that i have tendonidus.
