Is any one on neurotin for fibromyalgia? What do you think of it? How long did it take to work?

I have horrible pain in my knees and hips and since getting up to 300mg a day it has helped the pain at night from waking me up. I am now taking 1200 mg a day but the knee and hip pain during the day is still hard. I don't know what to do - i want to get more fit but my pain is too difficult when i try. Some say work through the pain, if i do, will that make it go away - any suggestions? HELP

I'm already on steriods for adrenal insufficiency so that isn't helping the connective tissues for me - even my pain medication doesn't work.

I was put on Gabapentin 18 months or ago for neuropathic pain but I also have FMS. Didn't tolerate it at all - was totally off my face & lost my voice. I did have awful pain in my knees & hips but don't know whether that was from the FMS or the Gabapentin. Only took it for about 6 weeks. Was also on Tramal at the time. Tried Lyrica - similar problems but not as severe - now on Tramal & Epilim which I tolerate quite well. Have to take things easy & not overdo anything or I end up with a severe flare-up. Walk & do pilates to try & manage it as well.

Nurontin is the name for a medication called 'Gabapentin' which is used to treat Pain arising from disorderd nerves! It is unlikely to be very effective in, fibromyalgia where the cause of pain lies in the muscles and the connective tissue ( Gristle, in simple English)

However the doctors these days try ANY medication that can be effective as long as the flip side if side efx is kept low! That is probably why the Non steroid anti inflammatory drugs like BRUFEN and VOLTAROL have not been recommended! These two are not very kind to the stomach lining and also may affect the heart and vascular system in vulnerable people!pls emalil me if u still need Mors info

it is time to see a doctor and look for other autoimmune disorders.
it is common to have fibro and autoimmune disorders and some autoimmune disorders do not show up for a few years after the fibro
in most cases fibro does not affect the joints.
but rheumatoid arthritis or lupus are common co-morbid condition in people with fibro.
and gabapentin does not help with RA or lupus joint pain.

trying to work through damage to joints from lupus or RA can cause more damage to the joints.
you need to rule out them first.

gabapentin does not stop all fibro pain just changes the pain for me.
i used to have severe muscle cramp type pain in my arms and legs
they were just like a "charlie horse"type cramping in the arm and leg muscles but lasted day and night. "imposable it sleep.type pain"
after 900 mg gabapentin it now is a mild aching all over.
that lets me sleep.

gabapentin is affective in many people with fibro.
it is also affective in some of the other disorders that are missDXed as fibro or can be co- morbid conditions with fibro
like severe Restless leg syndrome or polyneuropathy.
