Does anyone that has fibromyalgia, has irritable bowel syndrome, or leaky gut syndrome..what are u using ?Hey,
I have Fibromyalgia, and IBS is one of the symptoms. About a year ago I started changing the way I live. This is some of the changes that I made.
1.Started using really good nutritional supplements.
2. Added a good fiber to my daily routine.
3. Cut out processed and fryed foods.
4. Eat more fruits and veg. everyday.
5. Changed from toxic chemical home cleaners to green.
6. Changed from toxic chemical beauty and personal products to safer ones.
7. Started walking 4 to 5 days a week.
8. Lost 40 pounds in this last year.
A little of what I found out, after many months of research, was that not all nutritional supplements are made equal. Even though I was taking several vitamins and supplements, I found that many over the counter do not really help us. By adding good fiber along with lots of fruits and veg. it really helped the IBS, making me feel better. Cutting out the processed foods, and fryed foods, is something I feel everyone should do for better health. I found out that one of the big things that effects Fibro is toxins. Toxins break down the immune system, which is one of the big things with Fibro.
When I first started walking, I could only walk a very few min., but I just kept at it, until I could walk between a mile and a mile and a half 4 or 5 times a week.
These life changes have given me back my life, I was in so much pain everyday, some days I could not even get out of bed.
Hope some of these suggestions help you too.
Annie Lots of things mainly spasmonal and colpermin My daughter has leaky gut and fibromyalgia. She went on a totally grain free diet, except for rice, and it helped a GREAT DEAL.
Something you could try.
God Bless, that isn't easy to live with. food elimination diet and food diary to figure out food intolerances ... then just exercise and diet control ... helps like you wouldn't believe ... though, it takes a lot of discipline to keep some of the foods out ... you'll probably have to say good-bye to caffeine and a couple of your favorite foods (like wheat and dairy) ... Two of the three... fm and Ibs.
For fibro, muscle relaxant, (methocarbomol, Darvocet lorazipam, prn, and at night. Sleep is important. Some research suggest that FM is a sleep disorder. Tried Ambian, but all it did was give me short term memory loss.... in a week I'd forget your name, in two, I'd forget my own. And tho I slept, it just wasn't worth it, considering my job. I found regular but mild exercise extremely helpful, Yoga, and a 20 minute walk. Lifting weights etc. Nothing where the burn ever came up.
For IBS, tried Zelnorm, a disaster....it worked fine for the first month, then slowly stopped. It was over a year before the pain went away. Same with the probiotics, all made it worse. Things that help: Steel cut oatmeal for breakfast with some walnuts, blue berries, brown sugar and flax seed meal, stool softeners, and Mag. citrate. Metamucil just made is worse.
Other stuff too. Write if you need more. Both are inflammations as you know. I have a friend who is using a natural pharmaceutical grade Green Tea extract.
www.immunesupport.com/library/showarti... I have none of those, but have read some books that cover the issues enough that I would recommend them:
The Great Physicians Rx to Health and Wellness - Jordan Rubin
90 Day Immune System Makeover - Dr. Janet Maccaro
Also, you can see Andrew Hall Cutler's book Amalgam Illness, http://www.noamalgam.com I have tons of business partners who suffer from fibromyalgia. The body responses to natural sources that our creator has put on earth.

for leaky gut you need to raise your serotonin levels and reduce your cortisol levels.

http://ezinearticles.com/?Herbal-Remedy-... I have fibro too, along with it, the IBS. I spent 7 years going to dr's to get a diagnosis, 2 yrs taking prescription pharmaceuticals and decided to go the natural route. I have been better and have had alot less trouble with it.
What people don't realize is that prescription drugs often make things worse due to the fact that fibro people are more sensitive to them and the side effects they cause.
Some of the supplements and changes that have worked for me..
First I got a total body cleanse kit. ( Renew Life makes a good one) That done, you can kind of start with a clean slate. Detox is important to give your body a chance to rid itself of the toxins that have built up. I do it twice a year and also a 3 day juice fast in between.
Of course you know to carefully monitor your diet. I find I do better if I eat lots and I mean lots of fresh fruit and veggies, lean quality protein and limit fried foods, sugar, caffeine and the white flour and pasta, and get lots of whole grains. The Mediterranean diet, basically.
As far as supplements go I take Nature's Way Alive! multivitamins. They are a whole food supplement with super green foods, EFA's, fruit and veggie complex, mushrooms for immunity and the usual vitamins and minerals and some herbs. I also take a calcium and magnesium supplement in a ratio of 2 to1, 5 HTP, MSM, Digestive enzymes. coq 10 and olive leaf.
Also helpful is Milk Thistle, Vit C, Grapeseed extract, Alpha Lipoic Acid, NADH, valerian, and probiotics. If your thyroid function is low there are supplements to support it's function ( Enzymatic Therapy makes one called Metabolic Advantage). Gingko Biloba, fish oil, Flaxseed oil, evening primrose oil, and melatonin help too.
Super green foods rather in a drink, powder or capsule are one of the best things to take everyday.
All in all it sounds like alot, of course I don't take all this every day. What I did was try a combination of things for a good 3 months to find what worked best for me. Everyone is different. I have to say that when I tried the 5 HTP I found it to be very helpful with the pain management. vitacost.com has a combination of St. John's Wort and 5 HTP together. They also have good prices too.
I do walk for 30 min a day at least 5 days a week. It helps the IBS too. Yoga and meditation are excellent too.
Do all the research and learn all you can. There is aloy more to fibro than just the pain and IBS. Memory and cognitive difficulties, affected sleep, depression and anxiety are just the tip of the iceberg.
I hope some of this helps. If you'd like to contact me for more info and advice, please feel free. I was in nursing for 16 yrs and changed careers after being diagnosed. I just don't agree with the dr's on effective treatments for fibro and certainly don't participate in the big pharma game. My step-daughter suffers from fibromyalsia to include the achy body, severe headaches, etc. She swears by Himalayan Goji Juice - and says that she noticed a huge difference in just 3 days. She won't go back to prescription drugs because they not only didn't work, but she felt 'drugged' all of the time.
Good luck! |
