I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia friday. feel like i will never be well again.anyone else suffer this?

as a result of this new illness, that has been confrimed,i have now been put on morphine. 40 mg a day. this illness is stopping me from walking properly, and leaves me in pain from head to toe. i was told it cannot be cured,so am at my wits end. i am also due to have a hysterectomy in february. feel like i am literally falling apart. i am only 34 and have so many illness's that i am finding it hard to cope. i have a 2 year old and a 9 year old autistic daughter to look after. i try and hide my pain from them as much as i can,but feel like i am never going to be right and well,as all my illness's are going to be with me for the rest of my life. does anyone else have this fibromyalgia? what course of treatment is helping you the most? its taken 2 years to get my diagnosis. can anyone give me some kind genuine advice to help me get through this tough time. i am asking for kind genuine advice please,am going through enough at the moment. thanks to all who take the time to help me xxxx

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about a year ago but since I was diagnosed so early (I'm 19) I've able to control it some. It gets worse when triggered by something emotional. For me, that trigger is stress, so i'm working on controlling that. If you can ever figure out certain things that trigger an increase in your pain it would make a huge difference.

My doctor prescribed a medicine called tramadol, I think, but it completely knocked me out every time I took it and I hated that. Use your judgement when it comes to taking your medicine because if a more natural approach works, why introduce foreign chemicals into your body? Hopefully you will find natural alternatives to substitute for the medicine. I see a chiropractor regularly and that has probably made the most difference. She uses massage and adjustments to loosen up my muscles and it works so well. Try taking hot baths with something like Cold & Flu bath & shower gel by Kiss my Face. It's meant for people to rub on muscles and joints in warm water. It's good for a 'quick fix' which I usually need while I'm away at school. Also try some mild exercise like maybe pilates because it keeps your muscles moving and flexible.

I know these are really random bits of advice but they've worked well for me. Just remember to try fixing the pain naturally because in the long run it would definitely be healthier. Good luck, I hope you start to feel better.

Hi! I鈥檓 sorry that this following answer is so long but it is 鈥淚 thought鈥?wise to answer clearly with a full picture rather than things being taken out of context or partially answered.
When dealing with these issues there are no simple answers.

Hi Sweetie:
First Hun most important is to keep the faith and be encouraged!
We have to treat~
1. The body
2. The mind &
3. The spirit
All these we must do at the same time. All are important and imperative to manage an illness and/or get completely well from it. Report It

Lately I have not looked into fibromialgia but in the past before the Parvo B19 I had 鈥渂ecause I did suffer from symptoms much like the fibromialgia symptoms. I suspected I did ~the sore points on the body and definitely many other symptoms that matched the fibromialgia symptoms list. Report It

As I write this to you I touched one of the 鈥渉ot spots鈥?Which was consistently sore in my right temple to see if it was still there 鈥渁nd oh man it is!鈥?br> Many times, I could not walk at all! I was in phenomenal pain even lying in bed! (I believe I suffered with symptoms for about 10 yrs) Report It

(At this time, I had born my children and had them as youngsters.)
I do believe I conquered it managed it/or had it get to a point where it did not effect my life in to grand a way.
(Be encourage this is still the case as far as this type of pain goes I still do not have that type of pain) Report It

(Before the Parvo B19 came, I had worked very hard and had at least a few years where I was strong, healthier than most people had. I was even bicycling and cleaning house for a living. (which I never thought could be possible again!) I was in shape 鈥?great shape! Report It

Women @ the gym wanted 2 know how I worked out & in that type of shape. People were amazed at my energy.
This is how I believe I conquered fibromialgia~or @ least have it managed & under hand.
@ wits ends, so I began 2 not be so hard on myself & started 2 simplify my life in a drastic way. Report It

I eliminated stress I could, than set aside time 2 pray & meditate on stress I could not control by giving them 2 God. I reached a point where I became so confidant that God had my back I did not worry as much as I use 2. Which stress is a big factor in both fibromialgia and Parvo b19. Report It

1.I started 2 treat my self more 2 some little things which I never did.I always putt my needs in the back seat & caring about others likely 2 much.
One of my treats 2 my self is that I went 2 a therapist and just relaxed in spilling anything I wanted (I felt like that was a luxury 4 my mind.) Report It

1.Than I did something I also never thought I would do, I went 2 a chiropractor. 4 years, I went to physical therapist. The last physical therapist was a little more aggressive & I saw some improvement but of course not a total answer because you are always in this catch 22 situation. Report It

11/31
When the chiropractor worked me I did relax about his treatment (I had been leery 2 use a chiropractor) because he was basically doing the same things only more effectively.
Note this was a certain method of chiropractor & maybe that mattered?
Eventualy I had permission 2 slowly ad exercise. Report It

12/31
I was allowed 2 walk. Eventually graduating in2 dance exercise. Than weights. Than I went to the gym 4 more weights besides continuing at least an hour of aerobic dance or walk every day~I eventually could bicycle like a kid again~Besides start cleaning houses (2 a day as an aerobic work out) Report It

13/31 I felt blessed~Women @ the gym wondered how I got my body 2 look like it did~ people were amazed @ the energy I had~So really, keep the faith!4.As far as medications I had the option to many different 1鈥檚.I realized many were depressants&can dope u up causing more depression 2 the situation. Report It

So eventually, I made sure I stayed away when possible and eventually eliminated such medicine totally.
The medicine at that time I continued to take as a routine on until I could wean my self-down more was this combination. Report It

15/31(Any time I felt I could make it without certain things I did but the anti inflammatory were not wise 2 take out of my body @ all because it took 2 long 2 get them working again 鈥渓ive and learn鈥? Report It

16/31Therefore, if I remember correctly the following I took 2 manage & eventually lived comfortably even 2 this day 4 fibromialigia type of pain.1)800 mg of Motrin 2)When pain was becoming or was acute,I added in 2 extra strength Tylenol. Report It

18 of 313)@ times, I used a muscle relaxant~but sparingly until eventually,I need it no more. The Motrin eventually got down 2 as needed. Rarely I used the Tylenol in conjunction.Consequently after a few years I was feeling very well!KEEP THE FAITH! Report It

19/31I than I was so lucky 2 get Parvo b19! (& you know I am being sarcastic)4 the parvo 19 I was put on 1)60 mg of prednisone, which helped to take the edge off 2 recuperate &get moving again.
Prednisone is not a good thing 2 stay on 4ever even though it is like a miracle drug @ times. Report It

20/31My Dr. pushed me 2 wean off the prednisone & sometimes as I weaned off I had to up it again. Many people get stuck on it(Not good in the long run)2) Eventually I weaned enough that again 800mg of Motrin could get me through if it was consistently in my body-
Eventually I weaned that down 2 Report It

20/31Than we felt that I should see how Alieve worked because of the long acting device in it-& how it would do for my pain and inflamation.(I still have 2 take Alieve but now I can get away in non challenging times 2 skip a day,& I am down 2 only 1x a day 鈥渕ostly鈥? Report It

I know a lot of people who have fibromyalgia and they find relief from massage therapy and Reike. Usually my massage therapist/Reike specialists treat people who cannot find relief anywhere within the realm of conventional Western medicine.

I am sorry you're in so much pain, but I do wish you would look into Reike. It has helped many, many people like yourself.

Best wishes and God bless you.

My sister was diagnosed with this disorder over 10 years ago, and she was put on medication...but never morphine! She found that physical training with the help of a trainer and her meds allowed her to work through the daily pain, and she says that she has discomfort, but not such a debilitating wasted feeling from 2 years ago, before she changed doctors and went into physical therapy.
