I live with fibromyalgia and was perscribed lycira?

has anyone tryed this new med? i would love to hear of your experience with it.i woke up dizzy and groggy today.will that go away? thanks!!

i'm taking 75mg. 1xnight and 1xmorning for 2 weeks.then i start taking 1xmornin and 2xnight

You do not state what dosage you were started on. I was started on 25mgs Lyrica at night before bed and I take that with 2mgs of Valium. The difference it has made, unbelievable. However I have seen other questions where they were started on 100mgs three times a day? If I took that much, reckon I would not be able to get out of bed, let alone function. The Valium makes me groggy, takes me about one hour to shake that off, so when they added the Lyrica I was 'concerned'. However, no problems, no weight gain, I have less pain, more energy and am thankful. Good Luck

Everyone reacts differently.

I take lyrica. Maybe your "strength" is too much. If it doesn't go away, ask your dr can you take less or decrease the dosage. I had instant relief, but others made them fall, etc.
You know your own body, just be careful. Some are getting relief, others are like you.

Lyrica is a band-aid approach to a very complex disorder

The disruptions of biochemistry and sleep disturbance
need to be addressed

hi Kat well i was on this med for my headaches and let me tell you i had all the side affects to it.the one that affected the most was the hallucinating i went to the hospital they told me my bp was up and talk with my doctor so he took me off. i have a friend thats on it as well she does not like it either.please let your doctor know.i hope this will help

I've had FMS since well before 1989 (diagnosed as fibrositis at back then). I'm a 53 year old grannie. I was on Neurontin from 2001 to 2005 for neuropathy and migraine caused by fibromyalgia, but the neurologist didn't say specifically that it was being used to treat my FMS.

Anyway, my rheumatologist, asked me to switch to Lyrica when it came out, because of the tests that had been done for FMS patients and the results were so positive. This was before the FDA approved it for the treatment of Fibromyalgia. I've never experienced any dizziness with Lyrica, but I'm sure that it should be short-term.

I'm on a very large dose of Lyrica and having some problems. We increased the dosage to 300 mg twice a day to try to stop my migraines that flared again. Now my feet and legs are swelling, my vision is changing, and my migraines are still here. So, I'm going to talk to the doctor about dropping down my Lyrica dosage to see if it helps the swelling and my vision. I started Topomax to try to tackle the migraines.

Sorry for such a long answer. Just wanted you to know of other problems that can happen. You just have to find out it you feel better and if the side effects are worth the benefit you get from the medicine.

first of all, sorry you have to live with this too. i was dx in 2001 and have lurked here since. i was recently given an rx for lyrica also. i have been taking it for a few months. i take one 75 mg. capsule twice a day. i do not recall having any side effects. you might have to take it with food? i do know that if i don't take it, i can really tell a difference in my pain level. it goes WAY up.

best wishes.
