Fibromyalgia. Does anyone have this awful condition?

I have had it for about 7 years. It went away for the past 2
years and now it is back and worse than ever. I can't stand
the way it makes me feel and I have no energy at all. To go to
work is just such a big deal. I worry about what I'm going to do
if I couldn't work. I have alot of pain and I feel so dizzy and faint, I feel like throwing up but I never do. I can't concentrate
when I'm having an attack, and I'm just so tired of it. I need
real relief. Any advice from people with Fibromyalgia would
be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I have it, but I am afraid I have no really good advice for you.

There is a drug which has recently been approved for fibro pain here in the US where I live. It is called Lyrica. I tried it, and I couldn't take it because it gave me a rash, but you might talk to your doctor about it, as the rash is a very rare side effect. When I talked to mine, he said that people who are able to take it are reporting a significant amount of relief from their pain. I would try it if I were you.

Since I have been on a bunch of stuff, and nothing has worked for me, I have decided to move on to seeing a pain specialist. I hope to do so in the near future.

Talk with your doctor, and see what options are available to you.

I wish you the best, and I hope you find yourself some relief. I can relate.

My cousin has it, and I was just telling her today LYRICA is now being used to treat Fibromyalga, my dad takes LYRICA for his diabetic neuropathy and it seems to work well... good luck

I have fibro and have found that it takes many different things to make improvements.I have written about them on my 360 blog, if you are interested in reading up on them.
If you haven't tried D Ribose , I urge you to do so. It helps about 69 % of the fibromyalgia patients who try it. I have articles about it on my blog also.

if you had fibro and it went away for 2 years you don't have fibro.

you need to see a doctor that knows what he is doing .

you more likely had something like Polymyalgia rheumatica
or polyneuropathy
i have fibro and am a member of a lot of fibro groups and i have never heard of a case of fibro going away and coming back

there are other disorders that mimic fibro that can come and go.
while fibro is a real disorder there are some doctors out there that use it as a waste basket DX because they are to lazy to look for the real cause.

Hi Boxmaker,
Firstly, it depends who diagnosed your fibromyalgia condition. Even a rheumatologist or other specialist may not be able to make a definitive diagnosis. Sometimes another condition could be misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia.
An expert doctor may be able to diagnose via 80 pressure points in the body using his thumb, first and second finger. Moreover there are 18 tender points on the neck, shoulder, hips, knees, and lower back.
Fibromyalgia has to be treated holistically with medication as well as not non-medical interventions like:
* cognitive behavior therapy
* biofeedback
* trigger point injections
* acupressure or acupuncture
* massage

Hope you find relief soon.

Not sure that this is really Fibromyalgia, I haven't heard of it going away for years, I know that people have flare ups, but it usually is something that you deal with every day, maybe a second opinion is in order, I would try a rheumatoligist (sp?).

If you have FMS definately try the D-ribose (corvalen) it does seem to help a bit, I also take sleep medicine, lunesta or ambien seems to help me, I tried the Lyrica but it didn't seem to help much. I am sorry your in so much pain, its scary and exhausting. Check out the website http://www.fmaware.org it has some good info on FMS.
