Alternative to amitriptyline (Elavil) for sleep for fibromyalgia?

I've been on amitriptyline for awhile now to help me reach the deeper stages of sleep to help with my fibromyalgia. It's worked really well and I've been feeling much better, but I've gained a lot of weight on it. Does anyone have a suggestion of an alternate drug that has worked for them for sleep but doesn't cause so much weight gain? I'm thinking of asking my doctor if I can try Rozarem or Lunesta or one of the other non-addictive sleeping pills. If I don't take anything, I wake up probably every 30 minutes or so all night long and never reach the deeper stages and I'm just a mess. Thank you!

Lexapro may help-it is an SSRI-not a tricylic like elavil--

it i s basically the main ingredient in Celexa-but with less of teh side effect ingredients..

There is Nortriptyline-but it is so similar to Amit-that you may have the same problems..

If you have pain-think about Ultram-it works on the serotonin-like the ssri--but is a pain med-

it took the edge off the pain for me-froma 9 down to a 6

A homoeopathic Medicine
Rhus Tox 30
Twice daily and even one at bedtime
3 pills to chew orallyfor 7 days

Do reply. Willing to have long term treatment then write mail to my inbox.

I have tried several prescription sleep aids. I also was on Elavil and gained the weight. I tried the over the counter non rx'd meds and found it worked just as well for me. Tylenol PM worked the best with little side affects. This was my solution to rx'd sleep aids but, consult your pcp to make sure it is safe for you. :0)
