Can you still live and work with fibromyalgia?

I have had this for 9 years but do not deal with it very well - it kills when i am at my office job and i suffer severe depression before/since it. I read a lot about people who give up working but in order for me to beat severe depression i need to build a life for myself including work. Are there people who still have a good life with this condition?

yes-I am going through a rough patch though-I was fired froma job due to disability discrimination and ignored by the government and was essentially robbed of a years worth of pay and benefits-so ai am heavilily in debt. I am managing to work 55 hours a week-it is making me misearble, but i know it is only temporary-once I pay off the debt-I will reduce my work week to 35 hours-I have had it for about 30 years-

there have been bad periods where I could barely function-but I always managed to find a way through.

I believe this is a medical question that should be asked of your doctor. You may try to find any sites that are for sufferers of this ailment. I know there are sites of other diseases that members can share there experiences with their ailments with others experiencing the same. good luck...try googling it

There is hope for you. One of my doctors at the Mayo Clinic is a very talented Neurologist and works every day even though he has fibromyalgia.
I applaud you for wanting to work despite your health problems.
You probably need a job that is not physically challenging. There are a lot of jobs like that. Some would be answering service, taking phone orders for people buying things, phone support of various kinds, data entry.
It may be easier to find the right job if you go through a job placement agency or county job placement service. Be honest with them about your physical situation so they can find the right job for you. Often times you can start the jobs as a temporary employee and then if you like it and the employer is happy with your work it could become a permanent job.
If you don't feel qualified for any of the jobs you see in your area, maybe some training at a technical school would help.
Keep up your good attitude. I know you'll do great.
