Can anyone share with me their views on Fibromyalgia and if any of you or do you know of anyone that has been?

diagnosed with the condition. What symptoms do you experience the most?

I know a lot of people that have it. I have been going to a pain management clinic for several years for a spine injury and several of the women that I know there are being treated for fibromyalgia. Here are a few links that will give you good, free information from medical professionals

Chronic fatigue, various ache and pains are the common symptoms I hear about from my friends that suffer from it. I guess until recently it was considered a 'female disease' and it was just what doctors would call it when there were no real hard clinical facts regarding the disease. That has changed in the last few years from what I have been told.

I know a lot of women with this disorder (it's a female predominant disease). They tend to be in their 30s-60s and have a lot of pain, a lot of headaches, and often times some form of anxiety/ depression. They generally have problems with insomnia. It's pretty bad. All of the women I know that suffer from this are on quite a few medications. The meds don't seem to help very much. However I know a few that have benefited from water therapy. It's easier on the joints than regular physical therapy.

This is a generalization and not the case for everyone.

Sadly there is not a lot of doctors that know how to treat Fibromyalgia properly or take it seriously.

I have fibromyalgia which is a neuro-muscular-endocrine problem. I was 1st diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis because of aches & pains. It wasn't. Then a got hyperthyroid problem, lost lots of weight; got depressed & anxious, then my thyroid became low. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis a frequent symptom of fibro.
I have more than the 11 of 18 trigger points that diagnose fibro.
I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome another frequent accompaniment to fibro.

There's speculation that the cause of fibro is a result of an injury like whiplash; aftermath of a virus or autoimmune illness.

I am on meds that help the pain & achiness.
The symptoms I experience the most are:
Headaches; depression; FATIGUE; anxiety; brain fog;
stiffness, muscular aches, difficulty with sleep. I also have sinus problems.

I hope that helps you.

Women tend to be affected with fibromyalgia more than men, with the onset of symptoms in the 20's and 30's. Fibromyalgia is often misdiagnosed lending to its chronic nature, unnecessary medical treatment and emotional distress and frustration.
The pain of fibromyalgia is often made worse by physical activity, stress, lack of sleep, cold and damp weather. Complaints often found associated with fibromyalgia are generalized weakness, daily fatigue, muscle and joint stiffness, generalized tenderness, unrefreshed sleep, disturbed mood, anxiety, frequent urination, irritable bowel and multiple chemical sensitivities.
