I'm thirteen and I just recently got diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and hypermobile joints, but Im getting worse

So Monday I was feeling kind of tired, but I wasn't hurting that bad so I got up and went to school. I got so tired throughout the day that the first thing I did when I got home was sleep. and this is weird for me because I am a very hyper and energetic person. But then I went to dance at 8:30 and by 10 when I got home, i felt drained. tuesday I woke up and felt awful, my knees hurt, and I felt like I didn't sleep at all. SO i went back to bed. By Fiday, I had been sleeping all night and then for about nine hours in the day. I woke up at one in the afternoon and my mom told me we were going to the er because the pediatrics said they were full and couldn't get me an appointment. i got tons of blood work done and they came back and said nothing showed up. their suggestion was to get lots of sleep. i laughed when they said that. im feeling awful all the time. we live in a small town, should we drive to the bigger, better hospital out of town or what? please help!

I developed Fibromyalgia at a very young age. So I certainly can identify with what you're going through. I have written an article on Fibromyalgia which will give you help on how to take care of yourself and improve your life. If you have any further questions after reading this please let me know.

Best wishes,

I'm sorry to hear that you have Fibromyalgia. I have had it for many years, although I have just been diagnosed, in the last year. It's no fun.
Have you been really stressed out lately? I find that if I am stressed it seems to make me much more tired and achey than normal. I have times when I can't even touch the tender points on my body, and I have to sleep with pillows between my knees.
Do you also exercise or work out? If you do, you should probably take it a little easier when you do those things, they can wear you out. I do yoga, because it keeps me flexible and I can move around much easier. I also find that taking mud baths help. There is an awesome product available called Golden Moor Mud. It has very therapeutic properties and I find that I sleep much better and am more flexible when I use it.
It probably wouldn't hurt to see a doctor in a bigger hospital, sometimes they see things more often and can offer different treatment options.
Good Luck.....

I have Hyper-mobile joints as well, and used to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia.I know you must be hurting and want help and answers! I think I might have some answers for you, because there is a medical condition that includes all your symptoms, and I have been diagnosed with that condition for several years. It includes the fibromyalgia -like pain, but is a broader condition, which includes the hypermobile joints, tiredness, and is often misdiagnosed and missed by most doctors! Its a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Your symptoms sound just like mine, and I know how hard this can be to go through. Would you rather talk via e-mail or IM? I don't want to discuss this on the public forum without your permission, but I can help you and your family find answers, the right doctors and treatment. Please let me help! (if it would be better for you, I could give you my cell phone number via e-mail)

Well, welcome to the group of weird symptoms. I myself was orginally diagnosed with Reiter's Syndrome aka Reactive Arthritis even though I had no history of any of the know triggers. Here recently after finally getting a hold of a rheumatologist I was diagnosed with possible early stages of Ankylosing Spondilitis.

I am HLA-B27 positive, and my sed rate has always been normal even when I have had severe flareups. Periods to where I could not walk, stand or lay down without extreme pain.

My suggestion to your is that you need to research your area for a rheumatologist. Find out if he has experience dealing with people with Spondlaraphapthy (probably misspelled).

You need to research what they have classified you so far and educate yourself as well as your mother about your diseases. That way you know more about what the doc is telling you.

If you have a spondy disease such as fibromyalagia you need to be familiar with all possible symptoms so that you can recongnize them as they happen.

If you develope eye problems you will need a eye specialist as well as the rheumy.

Joining a support group can help you and your mom deal with the stress that these disease can cause. I belong to one group called RISG.ORG it is a christian based group. I have really enjoyed this group and it helps to talk to others that know what you are going through.

hi...I also have had fibromyalgia since before they had a name for it...out of the 18 points of pain I have 17...you are describing exactly what happens...one minute you feel good and the next you want to scream from pain that just popped up...In 25 years i have tried everything. Here is what i can tell you for sure...take your medicine when you are supposed to..what ever your dr prescribes..I have gone thru 800mg Motrin...so many arthritis medicines..vicodin..celebrex..what everthing there was to try..but I learned one thing for sure..no matter whether you feel good or not...dont stop taking your medicine...If you just started taking a medicine, it may make you sleep until you get used to it..I take flexeral and believe me it still makes me tired and sleepy..you have to make changes too...take time to rest...and dont push yourself until you cant go anymore either..because you will pay for it sooner than later..you'll get depressed, its natural..I remember going to the rheumatologist (he is an arthritis dr..) and sat and cried for no reason at all...so depression is natural...Ive had 5 surgeries and am doing all I can to prevent 2 more..back and foot.. but i know now to take it easy, rest, and try to do all i am able to do..
