Any one have Fibromyalgia!?

My doc has suggested Disabilty and I,m considering my options!

it is not well known that it is caused by epstein Bar virus.

It is suspected to be triggered by something like the virus, an injury, other illnesses.

The virus does not actually cause it. You are predisposed to developing it-a serious illness or accident just activates it

It is believed to be a disorder of teh central nervous system by reliable resources. Other theories from less reliable sources include musculoskeletal or autoimmune.

It is not best treat as a variant of depression. It is true that some of the same brain chemicals are involved-it is not in the same category-antidepressants due help because they regulate serotonin and norephrin (sp?)---but so do anti seizure meds-maybe even more so...by that logic it should be treated like epilepsy-but it isn't

For me: I hurt all over and sometimes so tired I stay in bed. I am on disability. I have other medical stuff. There is no way I can hold down a job.

Here is a good site that tells you all about it:
(it was too long to copy and paste.

You hurt all over, and you frequently feel exhausted. Even after numerous tests, your doctor can't find anything specifically wrong with you. If this sounds familiar, you may have fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points 鈥?places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.

Although the intensity of your symptoms may vary, they'll probably never disappear completely. It may be reassuring to know, however, that fibromyalgia isn't progressive or life-threatening. Treatments and self-care steps can improve fibromyalgia symptoms and your general health.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia. Fibromyalgia patients are also typically affected by a number of symptoms other than pain, including debilitating fatigue, abnormal sleep architecture, functional bowel disturbances and a variety of neuropsychiatric problems including cognitive dysfunction, anxiety and depressive symptoms.

I get disability for Fibro. It just took me about 18 months.

I am currently on disability and fought going on it, but it was a good decision. Think about how your FMS affects you, those you love and your employer. Then if it's the right decision for you, get a lawyer. It will make the process less stressful for you. Good Luck

If you would like to get some great information about disability and your options, go to Yahoo groups and search for a group called Disinissues. They are not a warm fuzzy support group. This group is made by professionals that are only there to assist those of us with "Hidden" illnesses in our quest to receive disabilty. Check it out. I know of a few folks that have used this place for information and were successful in obtaining what is rightfully thiers through either insurance or SSI or both. Best of luck to you!
