I have fibromyalgia and the statins the cardiologist puts me on are causing muscle spasms in my back and sides

I have fibromyalgia and the statins my cardiologist put me on cause side and back spasms.My primary doctor, as well as the mail order pharmacist, questioned my being put on Lescol when I had bad reations to Lipitor and Crestor.Since Fibromyalgia weakens the muscles and immune system, it doesn't make sense to me to be taking a statin that is known to do the same thing.Should I try a natural form of cholesterol reducing suppliment?I just paid $55. for Lescol 40mg and I am afraid to try it because I still have side spasms from taking Lescol 80mg, although I only took it for a few days,Thank you for an educated reply.

I also suffur from fibromyalgia and went thru similar episodes and side effects. I refused to use any statin meds now talk to your doc about Lyrica it does help for some. The side effects have outweighed the benifits for me so I have chosen to use other methods try a homeopathic doctor I now take sublingual b vitamins and this helps with my fibromyalgia pain Good Luck

Fibromyalgia itself supposedly doesn't weaken the muscles-thatis why they say it is non progressive-the muscles can get weaker from inability to use.

I read somewhere there may be a problem with a brian chemical need for bone and muscle repair-which would make it true that FMS does actually cause muscles to weakrn-but it is an unaccepted theory.

I believe garlic is one-i think that would be safe to take

Lescol is probably the last statin I would recommend. There's still Zocor and Pravachol (plus both are generic).
