Doctors say I have fibromyalgia but I don't believe them. I am in UNGODLY pain in my FEET/knees for 8yrs. HELP

I'm on every known medicine to mankind and nothing seems to work for my so called fibromyalgia. Does anyone experience burning, throbbing, sickning pain in their feet? Every xray, etc has been done with no results and stuck with fibro. There has to be people out there that can help me. I take antidepressants that don't work and I can't sleep in this PAIN. It never stops. I always say I am in UNGODLY PAIN but I don't feel they really know how much pain someone is really in. I could cut off my feet if I didnt have family that I love and know I need them and they need me. Something has to be on the market to take this pain away. HELP ME PLZ!

If ity's just your feet/knees-you probably don't have Fibromyalgia-

it coudl have started in your knees-causing you to alter your gate-which then cuased foot pain -or teh opposite way foot problems cause you to use your knees wrong...

some doctors will just use it as a label for any one with pain and fatigue

I have pain like that-but it is plantar fasciitis.

Have you been specifically to a podiatrist or possibly a neurologist-could be some form or neuropathy

I went to various orthopedists/podiatrists for a couple years-they kept just saying 'i don't see a fracture'

I just found out what it is called by reading a newspaper article about it.

with any foor problem you should be evaluated for custome orthoticcs.

Foot pain alone is not fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is pain in all 4 quadrants (upper, lower, front, back) It can start localized-but if it hasn't affected any otehr part of your body after 8 years-it is doubtful that it is FMS
FMS is widespread.

FMS also has other symptoms such as stiffness, fatigue, numbness, cognitive difficulties.......

other conditions such as plantar fasciitis, MS, lymes disease need to be ruled out--then you need to be assessed for a number of tenderpoints that indicate FMS

in the US-
email kindness@fibrobetsy.com

to get a list of doctors that have good reviews from patients and are considered to be the most competant to diagnose and treat FMS

most 'specialists' are not qualified as they refuse to educate themsleves---only a few in a subset of those specialists

FMS has been nelived to be a disorder of teh Central Nervous System for about 10 years-not musculoskeletal-not autoimmune---that is why narcotics and other meds taht treat the pain locally don't help much--

the drugs that are most promising treat the neurological system...to better respoind to pain signals--not thye pain itself

have you had a complete physical with lab work done? pain like that can be neuropathic in nature, meaning nerve pain. and with nerve pain, there isn't much that helps. neurontin or lyrica can help. neuropathy can be caused by diabetes. also, if your thyroid (or other hormones) is off, you may experience pain that is unexplainable. my suggestion is to talk to your doctor and get a complete physical. he/she may have some more suggestions that can help you. good luck!

For sleep, look for a supplement that contains both valerian and lemon balm. Also take kava kava and melatonin before bed. To relax muscles, try a magnesium supplement and try to make an appointment with a professional massage therapist. It's also a good idea to take a high potency vitamin/mineral supplement daily.
-Antidepressants: SAM-e and St. Johns Wort
-Try royal jelly to reduce pain and inflammation
-immunity: Coenzyme Q10
For pain, I hear that wormwood extract is very effective. You can buy it online.

not sure what fibro whatever is but every once in a while i bend my foot in a it just about kills me but it stops if i can maange to bend it back and rest it for a few mins im thinkin this is sumwat smilar to your issue maybe get a doc to permantly num your feet or maybe controlled temorary till u find sumthing that could work?

they are not giving you the right meds, you need a real pain reliever like vicodin, lorcet, percocet...talk to your doctor or get a second opinion

Gosh, that sucks, I'm sorry! I don't know if it'll help, but I was just reading about these shoes called Z-coils. I don't think they'd totally take your pain away, but they may help? If you go on their website or research them on the internet a bit you can see that people who've had chronic pain in their lower extremities seem to really like them. I think they range in price around $200, but they fit them to your foot I think, and you can wear them for two weeks to try them and return them if you don't like them. Other than that, I have no other suggestions.... oh, except, have you tried acupuncture? I've heard it really can help- worst that can happen is it doesn't work, but it sounds like something you should try.

--P.S.- Please don't take "Amy D's" advice without consulting your Dr. or pharmacist first please; even taking vitamins or herbs like St. John's Wort can impact the way your current medications act or have a dangerous interaction--

Amy D-- if you read this, I don't know what kind of medical knowledge or experience you have, but I've noticed that you give answers that only a Dr. or medical professional should give.... you should always add the disclaimer to ask your Dr. before taking herbs or enimas or whatnot, for certain people they can be dangerous.

FIBROHUGS, Darling!!!

Heres something for those of you who have NO CLUE the pain we go thru. Hunii, i am on disability because i can not THINK straight, (fibrofog) I have an MA and BA but sometimes feels like i am so DUMB i cant even remember what i was just saying or what i wanted at the Grocery , standing looking straight at it. THERE IS HELP! More people have lost their FAMILIES due to LACK OF UNDERSTANDING than any other disease....Im sorry. Hugz

HERE:

This definitely sounds like fibromyalgia. I to suffered for years with pain in my head, neck, shoulders, chest, hips, elbow, hands, knees and feet. I was told so many times oh it nothing just some stiffness you must be doing to much. I went for Xrays, blood tests and CT scans...With no diagnosis. Finally I switched Doctors and that is when I was first told about FM. With FM you suffer widespread pain (burning, throbbing, aching, flu like pains), Migraines, IBS(irratible bowel syndrome), Insomnia, Depression and a wide range of other things like vitamin deficiencies in the worst cases(Myself I suffer from all of the above and am on one of the strongest meds with no help) The last time I slept a whole night through was in 1989. I am sorry but it is FM and you can look online there are diets, exercises, and other things to help reduce your symptoms but there is no cure.

Hi there, I understand totally the pain you are suffering as like you I also have this condition. My rheumatologist/immunologist advised me to relieve the constant pain I could take antidepressants in a low dose but also that exercise should help relieve the pain. Hence to say I do neither. I do, however, take anti-inflammatory drugs e.g. voltaren or ibuprofen but for them to have an effect you need to take them regulary whatever the labels specify. I also take analgesic pain relief four-hourly (paracetamol).I hope this helps you because it is a very miserable condition. You may also have support groups in your area who could offer some help to you. I wish you the best.
