Is Fibromyalgia a life thretening deseace?

Is Fibromyalgia a life thretening deseace?

technically-no

I heard of one rare case of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (similar or teh same as FMS) where the person died as a result of physical complications-

Supposedly it is not progressive, but my personal belief is that is is minimally progressive-

About as progressive as the damage of an occassional epileptic seizure.....

Althoiugh I can't locate it now-I read a suggestion taht said tehre is a problem with a brian chemical needed for bone and muscle repair--if that is true -there will be some deterioration (progression).

Each year-I can do less and less.........The symptoms went into remission at one point-but I never regained normal strength--although physical therapy can improve my condition somewhat...

I am assuming I will need more mobility assistance at a younger age-and maybe a slight decrease in my lifespan-

Complications from not being able to exercise/take care of myslef add to that...

I ahve had a number of falls/injuries as a result

No, it is a chronic pain condition that causes muscle aches and tenderness and severe muscle spasms at times.

It can become quite painful and cause you to miss work and other obligations. Some people end up bed ridden.

No, in fact many doctors still don't acknowledge it. It can make you feel so badly, you feel like threatening someone else's life on a given day.{: Hard to explain the stiffness, soreness, and fatigue. Hot water helps. Yoga might, too.

No it is not life threatening, however it can lead to depression due to chronic pain. You should see your Dr. and see what he/she can recommend you to do. Individualized therapy is suggested, as some have it worse than others. I have located a site that may assist you in learning of this condition, however, the Internet should not take the place of a visit to your Dr :)

no but some times you feel you can not go on and you want the pain to just stop. I finally started on the lyrica and it has helped me amazingly, the fatigue is still a problem some days. go to "fibrohelp.org" it helped me with the generalized questions i had. good luck.

Not life threatening... But the pain and aches can sometime interfere with your life...

A kind of chronic condition called Fibromyalgia is characterized by fatigue, widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, and multiple tender points places on your body where slight pressure causes pain but you know or experience this already. One truth about fibromyalgia is that it isn't progressive, crippling or life-threatening and while there is no cure for it and chronic fatigue, dramatic results are possible which can improve your lifestyle in ways you could only hope for previously. Self-care is critical in the management of fibromyalgia. It includes: stress reduction, adequate sleep, regular, exercise, and application of an all-natural pain reliever.

While it seems like there is only bad news in regards to fibromyalgia, at least patients can be comforted by the fact that the disease does not progress and isn鈥檛 fatal. Everyday more research is done to find more effective ways to relieve pain and correct the sleep and chronic fatigue problems associated with this disorder. By working closely with their doctor, fibromyalgia patients can often find a treatment plan that is effective with this disease. With patience and understanding the life of a fibromyalgia patient can be comfortable and normal. In the meantime, hard work is being done to understand it everyday.

I don't think that it is but, I also think that when someone is in pain like people with who suffer all the time. I do feel that this constant pain can lead to life threatening results. I think that it can make your body basically go into fight or flight. I'm not sure if this make any sense to you. But I do feel this way. Have a blessed day.
