Does anybody know about, FIBROMYALGIA what iy is and what if any thing can be done to cure or relief the pain?

yes my grandmother has it it is very pain full and their is no cure well atleast thats what doctors say but anyways my granmother comes home from work she is bloated and is in a lot of pain but here is a website i found you can check it out!

Fibromyalgia is beleived to be a disorder of teh Centrla Nervosu System-

Bloating, Swelling and Inflammation are NOT found in Fibromyalgia

therefore drugs such as steriods and NSAIDS have limited effect on FMS-

Previously-it was WRONGLY thought to be a disorder of teh musculoskeletal system-that is why it is treated by Rheumatologists

teh muscle pain is only a SYMPOM-The Syndrome itslef is neuro in nature..

Neuro drugs sucah as anti seizure (lyrica) and SSRI (tramadol pain med) have helped some people

Also see if heat or ice helps as well as gentel exercise

go to this website-- its really informative (it taught me a thing or two)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibromyalgi...

this is a website dedicated to this disorder:
http://www.fibrocenter.com/content/about...

and here's another site that is really informative:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fibromy...

this is starting to make me wonder if I might have this as well, but I think I'll wait... and something tells me that if I did have it- I wouldn't be functioning as well as I am right now...

Good luck with this I hope everything works out well for you (or whomever has this)

I am 39 years old and have fibromyalgia for at least 15 years. I am also a nurse. I hurt on a daily basis but refuse to take steroids or narcotics because of the long term effects of the steroids are not worth it and I can't function on the narcotics. you can read about the condition on the web site page link on the previous post. To help me function as normally as possible I take ultram and alternate it with ibuprofen. The first thing I do before I even try to get out of bed in the morning is reach for my ultram. It must kick in before I even try to begin getting ready for work. Even holding my arms up to blow dry my hair is a chore in the early morning hours. I could not take the Lyrica medication that has recently been put on the market and is the first medication that specifically states it can be used for a fibromyalgia patient but it has been successful for others. I am so sorry if you have been diagnosed with this illness because it is very painful and not many people understand it nor do they believe in it. It is very frustrating. Good luck.
