I'm on Flexaril which is a muscle relaxant to help me sleep (I tried many many many other sleep meds but none worked), Wellbutrin for depression, and I do 20-30 minutes on an exercise bike everyday. You have recently learned you have fibromyalgia and while you are grateful to finally know what the problem is, it鈥檚 not exactly the news anyone wants to hear. Fibromyalgia, at this point in history anyway, can鈥檛 be cured. Experts aren鈥檛 even sure what causes it, let alone how to stop it, but doctors can at least treat it. The good news is it doesn鈥檛 progress and it isn鈥檛 life threatening. However you can use fibromyalgia natural methods to further help enhance your life and the state of your condition. There are a variety of resources open to you in your quest for better flexibility and less pain. As you adjust to life with fibromyalgia keep these very important sources of fibromyalgia information in mind. I think med management is imperative... but, findings are that changing your diet, exercise, meditation and minimizing stress is the best way to get back to a more pain free life. Unfortunately there is no hard science to back up the diagnosis... lots of differing opinions by professionals... but, it doesn't matter where the pain comes from, if it is real to you it is real. Lifestyle change is way better in the long run and medication in the beginning. Pain medication is way harder on your system long term then Prozac. Doctors always want to give antidepressants for Fibro. Most of them don't know what else to do. Depression does not cause Fibro but Fibro can sure cause one to be depressed. FMS has been believed to be a disorder of teh centrla nervous system fro about 10 years-the only FDA approved drug is Lyrica which is in the antiseizure category I am sorry that you are in such pain. I have been taking a liquid vitamin and mineral supplement that has really helped with my pain management. I have lupus and am post polio. Check the link below and read the testimonials. Some people with your problems are showing very good results with this product. Try going gluten free. As weird as this sounds it may help. I was on pain patches for years and finally one doctor suggested that I try it. It worked- NO MORE PAIN! Honestly. It doesn't cost you anything to try it and it's really worth the extra trouble if it works for you... HONEST. I have had this since 1997 and they tried every type of drug and i flushed them down the toilet. I also have RSDS which is more painful my fibro is secondary. For maintenance i take two vicodin in the morning so i can walk, when you lay to long sleeping and try to move the pain increases...Then maybe about 6 in the evening i take two more, i could take them every 4 to 6 hours but i do without during the day. There are those rare occasions when the pain is to much and i will take a dose mid day but that's rare. Anti depressants work for some and my mom who also has Fibro take Prozac and it works well for her, she said it helps with the pain...we call it her happy pill LOL. So try the Prozac it may work well for you and this is how i look at it...if it doesn't kill you give it a try. Just know you have to take the pill for a few weeks to get the full effect and you may feel stupid in the head at first. Make sure everyday you get plenty of exercise, this is the most important thing you can do for yourself...You may want to find someone else in your shoes so you have someone to complain to, do not take this out on your family...Those of us living in chronic pain need to stick together because those not in our shoes do not, nor can we expect them to know how we feel. Hopefully you have a good sense of humor because girl your going to need it to get through this and make sure you take control of this disease and do not let it control your life, you still can do the same things...so what if its slower LOL Also watch, this can ruin your sleep and god forbid you get insomina like i have...Take care and be good to yourself. |
