I have Fibromyalgia and have had cancer 2X. Why do I have joint pain and popping?

Since I had breast cancer and melanoma and was on Tamoxifen for 5 years, I have had a lot of discomfort all over with pain. Joint pain and popping. I am on several drugs. Cymbalta, Maxide, Synthyroid, Neurotin, Trazadone, Flexiril, and Vicoden - Way too many drugs. The viocdin is for Fibromyalgia. I get 60/mth. The vicodin does very little for my joint pain. I think I might have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome in my left arm. Is it just old age or what?

Let鈥檚 approach the idea from the perspective of a chronic fibromyalgia patient. The fibromyalgia disease is one of the most misunderstood medical issues a person could have the misfortune of being diagnosed with. One of the biggest challenges involved is being diagnosed in the first place. It is characterized by serious pain and chronic fatigue, along with other issues involving depression, anxiety, and a loss of concentration on the mental level. The tough part about this condition is that people with fibromyalgia look completely healthy and this leads to friends, family, and other people looking at the fibromyalgia patient as if they are overreacting or lying about their condition. For someone in constant pain and misery, this cavalier attitude is very upsetting. Here is a bit of a closer look at this still mysterious illness.

* Causes of fibromyalgia
* Symptoms of fibromyalgia
* The treatment of fibromyalgia

Imagine having a condition that caused severe pain and fatigue along with all kinds of other not so fun symptoms, and then be told that there is no known cause for it. You didn鈥檛 do anything to 鈥渃atch鈥?it and the best doctors in the country can鈥檛 even tell you why it is trying to ruin your life. Some experts think fibromyalgia is associated with sleep disorders, while others are convinced that injury to the upper spinal cord is to blame. Researchers are also tossing a few other ideas around as well. Finding a cure for fibromyalgia will be much simpler when someone figures out where it comes from in the first place.

The most famous symptoms of fibromyalgia are chronic fatigue and pain. Even with a full night鈥檚 rest, people with fibromyalgia still feel exhausted and it impacts their daily tasks as well as their relationships both on a personal and professional level. The pain is most often centered in the back of the head, the neck and shoulders, as well as the upper back and chest. Many of the body鈥檚 joints are affected as well. The symptoms of fibromyalgia mimic other diseases, making it difficult to diagnose. This means people can suffer for years before finding the correct answer to the problem.

Chronic fibromyalgia is usually treated with several different types of medications and therapies. Antidepressants are used to combat the lack of quality rest and treat depression if the patient has those symptoms. Over the counter pain relievers are common as well, though they aren鈥檛 effective without the other forms of fibromyalgia medications. Many people also use alternative fibromyalgia treatments to help relieve their symptoms as well.

Despite what some ignornat medical professionals say-

You cangetjoint pain when you have FMS-

Afterall, there are soft tissue (ligaments, tendons) in the joints which can be painful..

don't know about the popping-might just be tightness from not being able to be active-

stretching helped me

as you get older more things can happen to you that youdo not like. It is more of a risk when you get older, you get old and then you get sick and eventually you die
