I have fibromyalgia my dr wants me to try prozac 20mg im a little nervous to should i? |
i have had it for over a year now and im so tired of the constant pay and sufferig i want to do something i dont want to get addicted to painkillers either but these kind of drugs scare me ive heard good and bad im a single mom so icant be like drowsy or out of it at all if anyone can help me with any info its greatly apprecited thanks so much and have a good day I also have fibro and have been on prozac and cybalta. They both made me a drowsy, so I take them at night before bed. I prefer the cybalta because it helps with the numbness and pain in my feet. If you find that 20mg is leaving you with more fibro fog in the mornings, ask your doctor about starting on a lower dose or try another such as Cymbalta, Welbutrin or Zoloft. Prozac is much safer than most painkillers. It is also not an addictive medication that will help you with anxiety, depression and even with pain (especially with fibromyalgia pain). If at some point in the future you will feel that it is not doing the job, or if you develop a side effect, you can easily discontinue this medication (by weaning off if you had been on it for a long time, or cold turkey if you had just started taking it). Try it. Prozac isn't one of teh 1st to try. It is an SSRI medication. Supposedly the SNRI medicatiosn work better- I think if I were you I would do a lot of research on the Internet before I took Prozac. I do know , each symptom has to be treated individually. I have a mild case, so I do not have to take meds for it. I suffered for years and found that http://www.fibromyalgiasymptomstreatment... contained the inforamtion i needed to recover. I found that acupuncture was good. Most people don鈥檛 think about medicine in terms of anything other than taking some pills, seeing the doctor, or having surgery or a procedure done in the hospital, but the truth is medicine is much more than that. History has taught that maintaining healthy habits not only prevents many diseases, but it lessens the impact of the illnesses that do occur. In terms of life with fibromyalgia, this is very important information. Fibromyalgia medicine definitely includes taking your medications regularly and as prescribed; it also includes the things people with fibromyalgia can do each and every day to improve the quality of their lives. Here is a brief look at what you can do, unrelated to pills, that you can do to make a difference in your daily life. |
