Anyone here have Fibromyalgia? |
I just found out today I have this from a neurosurgeon. After reading online about it I've had it about 10+ yrs. Needless to say Ive been to several Dr's...7 to be exact not counting any ER visits. THX!! Im just so mad its taken SO many DR's,tests and YEARS!! my best friend has it. she's had it for a couple years, and she's 16 now. it was really hard at first because the doctors thought it was in her head, but then they tried cutting out wheat of her diet to see if it would help and other stuff like that, but it didn't work. she had a lot of pain, but now, she's on fibro pills and pain medication and acupuncture. she has 'bad fibro days' (as she calls them) every once and a while, but she's doing okay now. she goes to school two times a week, but she can do most everything normal now. =] That is a very bad disease.. saps all your strength and hard to prove you have at first... I completely understand your frustration - the diagnosis part is one of the hardest to deal with as it consists of ruling out other conditions while receiving no answers or relief. Now that you have a diagnosis you can work on treatment which is pretty much a game of trial and error. Positive thinking and support groups are your friends throughout this. Fibromyalgia is believed to be a disorder of the Central Nervous System. as this theory becomes more accepted-more neurologists will be diagnosing it. |
