Can someone describe in not-so-medical terms what fibromyalgia feels like?

My legs hurt all the time and have for years, but not always in the same places....i dont have insurance and this is painful but not overwhelming so i just dont feel it is worth it to go to the dr and spend a bunch of money to tell me nothing is wrong with me....i want to do a little research and your opinions will help....thanks....

I used to be so bad I couldnt walk at times. When it was cold out I could never leave my home because of the pain in my muscles. It all changed when I did the gillian mc keith meal plan book.

It took a good 8 weeks to even feel different but I havent been sick one day since I did the meal plan and exercise plan. I did it even when I was sick.......no matter what I did the plans. I do not miss days when my hands would curl up and I couldnt use them.

Muscle aches and pains are normal especially after exercise. Fibromyalgia can be caused by many diseases and infections. Fibromyalgia will make you very tired all the time.

Your pain could also be caused by your anxiety regarding your condition. Go see the doctor it will be money well spent to ease your mind. If you are healthy it will be helpful for him to have a baseline over time. Make sure you visit at least once a year for preventative care. A small problem can become a very big problem if you ignore it. My doctor charges $35 a visit for his patients that are unable to afford insurance and he is excellent. I have learned a lot from him.

Please stay away from the research you first year med student. You'll give yourself the symptoms. Record your symptoms accurately, over time, on paper. That is what will help you and your doctor. Try not to be dramatic or use overly complex wording to describe what you feel. Use your own words. Your doctor will be able to communicate more effectively with you if you are yourself and not influenced by outside sources.

Take care. You are worth it.

OHHH Sweetie, I am so sorry to hear this. I too have Fibromyalgia and it can be pretty painful at times. There is no way to actually be diagnosed with it though, not yet anyway. I take pain meds and also rotate cold and heat when I have bad flare ups. I did chemo about two yeras ago and that has caused alot of problems for me. I now also have osteo and rheumatoid arthritis plus fibromyalgia since the chemo. Talk to a Dr. if at all possible and get you some help for the pain. If not, some days it can get pretty bad. Good Luck Hon

First, go to webmd.com and look up fibrolmyalgia.
I have been diagnosed with it four times. For me my muscles ache, I get headaches, the pain can be all over sometimes and then only on the left side or down the low back in the lumbar region (L4, L5 & S1) or right below my neck in C5 to C7. Achy legs can be caused by low back problems too. For me, I never know where I will hurt or when. I use an ice pack a lot, and meds and exercise. The combo works for me most of the time. You should see a doctor to be evaluated...good luck with it...

Don't pay attention to the thumbs down-they are from teh FIBROFRUIT guy who doesn'tr know about REAL Fibromyalgia and is only tryign to sell his product and essentially steal your money-
