Have any of you ever been diagnoised with " Fibromyalgia " ? If so ,what is the best treatment ? I was diagnosed about 1 yr ago. I'm on Cymbalta. I was on Lyrica and it didn't help much but I've heard several people say they liked it. Lyrica made me gain weight which didn't help my condition. I also go to physical therapy 2 times a week and it helps a little. They teach me stretches, a few strengthening exercises and do massage. They also have a hydro-bed which is very nice. The main thing I have learned that helps is to get as much rest as you can. I have 2 kids so it's not easy but it's essential. I wear comfy shoes and try to stay somewhat active but don't push myself too hard or I'll flare. My rheumatologist suggested yoga which I plan to try. I hope some of this helps. I know it's frustrating but just know you aren't alone. It鈥檚 not an uncommon situation to be diagnosed with a serious illness and feel the need to learn all you can about it. Of course your doctor and medical team are there for you in terms of instructions and information, but they are often busy with tons of patients and can only give you so much time. With fibromyalgia you want your information and you want it now. The changes are good you will learn about the newest treatment for fibromyalgia and other aspects of care with your own set of resources rather than wait for the doctor to let you know. Most physicians are simply too busy to notify each individual patient of new information. If you want to keep up to date on fibromyalgia health and how to take care of yourself, here are a few resources you should keep in mind. I assume you are talkng about REAL fibromyalgia. I had very good luck with Cymbalta, but when it stopped working for me I felt worse than when I began. I now use Lidoderm pain patches.and do pretty well with them. I also take low dose antidepressant. I have not tried Lyrica, but know others that have felt better with that. I also have done warm water swims. I take sleeping pills at night to enable me to get more than an hours sleep at a time. I Now get about four hours. I know that what works for some does not work for others. There are many, such as pills etc. But, many don't work and aren't good for you. I'd try acupuncture/accupressure first of all. there's also cranial electrical stimulation (CES) which has had great results. |
