Any fibromyalgia sufferers: Is anybody copletely exhausted all the time? Sleep for hours and hours?

It's not depression cause I'm doing well in that department (finally)

Yes, I've been diagnosed already. Yes I have 15 of the 18 trigger point. I'm taking Lyrica and it has helped a ton. I'm aware of all the symptoms, but the sleeping thing is somewhat new. It IS worse after an active day. I'm working part time and the days following the days I work, I am especially exhausted. Sometimes I come home after work and go to bed and sleep until the next morning.

I have FM also and yes, there are times that want to sleep sleep sleep. It's actually the best thing for our body to do to recuperate. Perhaps you aren't getting the REM sleep at night and are restless. Your Rheumatologist can prescribe a sleep aid to help get you to the healing sleep that we need each night.

Yes, I get particularly tired the day after I've been active.

Depression is a common symptom of fibromyalgia as are neurological problems; hypothyroidism, muscular skeletal pain, low threshhold for pain, migraines, IBS, sleep disturbances, etc.

If you were seeing a psychiatrist for your depression, ask him or get evaluated by a rheumatologist. Make sure when you make appointment you ask if MD treats lots of fibromyalgia patients. There are still lots of MDs who don't believe in fibromyalgia.

My best to you.

EDIT: Antidepressants are often used because they have been found to decrease pain syndromes. There are 18 trigger points in the body to diagnose fibromyalgia...in order to be diagnosed with it you need 11 positive triggers.

have you been actually diagnosed with fibromyalgia? the most part is unexplained pain in different areas at different times. it may even go totally away for three months, but usually you are tired because you in pain. They prescribe theantidepressant to help you control all you emotions while trying to understand that there is no explanation for your pain.
when you in pain its easy to sleep too much, but you will feel worse if you sleep too much.

Try this...

Iron deficency test: Go to the mirror and pull your lower eyelid and see if the color is red or flesh color. If its flesh colored you are lacking enough iron and should take a herbal iron like Floradix. It will take a month to see a difference. Iron carrys oxygen in your blood and if you dont have it you will feel tired, cold hands and feet, headaches, RLS, dull brittle hair, brittle nails, poor sleep, pale skin (see thru), shortness of breath, fatigue, poor concentration, low mood, ringing in the ears, irregular heart beats, cracks in the corner of the mouth, dizziness, fainting, sore tongue and canker sores. Add b12 and folic acid for best results

the anitdepressants are NOT prescribed to help you control your emotions about FMS-they are prescribed ro tehpain and fatigue symptoms.....if tehy are prescribed for emotional issues-that is a different diagnosis

I was at that point a few times-----needing to sleep 16 hours a day and still being tired.
