Does anyone have any info about fibromyalgia?

I am not looking for stuff that I can just google myself. I know what the literature says about it. I am looking for anyone who has been diagnosed with the condition or has been involved in it's management and can provide info on strategies that can help someone cope with the pain
Thx

I'm asking the question for Mum who has been on Celebrex for years (and Vioxx before they took it off the market) and she has recently been told that since there is actually no joint inflammation with Fibromyalgia the Celebrex actually isn't doing anything. Just wondering if you'd heard this or how the Dr. justified u taking celebrex.
Not sure if what my mum was told is correct after reading that you were also on a heavy dose of celebrex

IT is TRUE that there is NO INFLAMMATION with FMS-

that was a WRONG THEORY over 10 years ago--

there is a minimal possibility that celebrex with help with pain-but highly unlikely-

most likely-if itis helping-you are misdiagnosed-either you do not have FMS-or you have FMS and another condition

FMS IS A DISORDER OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

taht is whythe only apporved meds are neuro in nature

SNRI and antisezure (CYMBALTA and LYRICA)

To anyone with Fibromyalgia,

I am a 62 year old woman who was finally diagnosed with Fibro. in my mid 50's.

I have been on Celebrex, Lexpro (for depression), high blood pressure medication, acid reflux med and Tarazadone for sleeping. I took a total of 9 pills a day. Plus the side effects were not good.. I had also tried Bextra.

Nothing was working to give me a good quality of life. I started taking mangosteen juice (xango) about 3 years ago. What did I have to lose? I felt better right away, I felt my stress disappear and my pain became very minimal: I had my life back.

I weaned myself off my 3 celebrex a day and eventually all my meds.

I take 1 oz 3 times a day with food to keep my pain under control.

If I put my back out I drink 1/2 glass once or twice a day and go to bed to rest it and I'm fine and back to normal the next day. Basically if I have extra pain I drink more, but 1 oz 3 times a day keeps me going strong.

Other perks I have found is that I don't get colds or flu and I use it topically for cuts or bites.

I hope this helps someone, I know it sure helped me..

My mom has it....

she takes Lyrica and it seems to help her, but she still has bad days.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is alot of info out there that is not readily available such as literature or the internet.

I do know that for a while, my mom was prescribed "anit-depressants" as a medication for the fibromyalgia, and it didn't do much. But its different for all people.

Docs tell her the same thing...exercise and take meds, but not much else....

good luck and hope you can find more help!
