Guafenasine for Fibromyalgia?

Has anyone had any experience taking guafenasine for Fibromyalgia? I would like to know if it is really possible for it to help as much as I have been told that it has.

I am a nurse and I also suffer from fibromyalgia. I have never heard of guaifenesin being used with fibromyalgia but as soon as I saw your post I researched it a little bit. I can see how it can help because I personally keep a lot of sinus drainage especially at night. I live in Tennessee between the Tennessee river and the Mississippi river and I have always been told that is why I have so much drainage. Now that I see that it could be an adverse effect of my disease process then I will surely take the Mucinex product which has about 600 mg of guaifenesin in it per tablet. It won't hurt a thing to try it and I would be very grateful if it helps all the mucous that builds up in my throat and chest. I have listed a link below to help you better understand.

it;s the main ingredient in cough syrup......

i know about this treatment promoted by dr st armand and there are loads of dietary restrictions with it.... how does one know it isnt the diet, isn't the placebo effect, etc?? I know there's a bit of research on it but I haven't been convinced enough to try it.

I have had FMS for most of my life and just don't think this is the treatment. I do believe taking magnesium, calcium and a few things like that do assist the muscles and are beneficial but I'm not so keen on the 'guafenicin cure' ...

but... whatever floats the boats of those that swear by it.... and even if it is the p;lacebo effect... if it worked for them.. than great.... i just dont know if its worth the time, money, effort, etc?

Im not really satisfied with the research regarding it personally....

not to hijack but if your going to take it don't by mucinex it is about 4x what tylenol cold costwhich also has 600mg per dose + some of the acetomenaphen you probably already take. Don't be afraid to look for the generic it will be even cheaper. And I don't see any reason unless you have allergies that it could cause harm.

Guai is a cough medicine sold both OTC and by Rx,.....there are wide spread reports of its effectiveness--tehy have ben aound for years, yet FMS isn't cured

I tried it-it didn't veen help my couch--did nothing for the FMS-

My guess is that it treats a disease with similar symptoms--not real FMS
