Report Abuse what are you wanting to know about it? Fibromyalgia, also known as fibrositis or fibromyositis, refers to a disorder of unknown cause that is characterized by recurrent pain in the joints, muscles, or tendons. Often small specific areas called "trigger points" are tender to the touch. Physical strain and cold or damp weather can make the disorder worse. Frequently, the pain is associated with other symptoms, such as insomnia, fatigue, or anxiety. Laboratory tests are usually normal. There are several treatments: physical therapy, warm or cold compresses, anti-inflammatory medication, and sometimes an anesthetic or cortisone injected directly into the trigger points. I know what you are going through, I have it and it is messing up my life. I have also tried Lyrica, although it didn't help me it may help you. My doctors have tried different combinations of antidepressants and painkillers and nothing really helps. I am still trying to cope with this and remain positive that something will eventually help me. I want to try Cymbalta, which has been tried on FM sufferers and it helps. I have to go see a psychologist for that, my doctor will not prescribe and I stopped seeing my rhuemotologist since he would never really listen to me. I like, the others have said, have depression and it is made worse by the pain and inability to work since I am almost always sleeping. Have you seen a doctor (like a rheumotologist, I mean)? I might have it, and my mom and grandma both do. My mom read "The Idiot's Guide to Fibromyalgia," and it helped her because she realized so many weird things about her are normal for people with fibromyalgia. Maybe you should try that. I think I will, too. I have fibromyalgia. One of the things that I found helpful for easing the pain of fibromyalgia is muscle relaxers. I took one called Skelaxin. We carry a number of products for relief from fibromyalgia. Click on this link. |
