Pain from fibromyalgia?

need help some one has got to know what im going through

thre are TENDERPOINTS in FMS--not triggerpoints

tenderpoints hurt where pressed--
trigger points cause pain elsewhere
trigger points are found in MPS--not FMS

FMS is highly overdiagnosed by incompetant docs--at the same time-many people who really have it can't get a diagniosis--there are many conditiosn taht cause pain and fatigue--theya re not all FMS

FMS is NOT a general term for pain/fatigue as many doctors beleive.

REAL FMS is a neuro disorder (teh cause is partially known--contrary to anotehr repsonse)

Diet and Exercise don't really hep teh FMSitself--but may help optimize teh body to deal with it...

There is LIMITED success with any treatment-helps some--but more hype that hope

tehre is NO INFLAMMATION--so Nsaids don't help much

Muscle relaxants don't help much--teh problem originate in the brain--not themuscles

teh 3 approved meds are neuro (Savella, Cymbalta, Lyrica)

i have tried all you say and more .im just trying to cope now.i dont like to be drugged up all the time,so i will just have to deal best i can.the thing is why does it change from good to bad and the worst ever is a short period of time. Report Abuse

what are you wanting to know about it?
My mom, best friend and I all have it.
Most doctors put you on meds, pain pills and anti inflamatory (tho not all docs do the same thing) there is a medication that is supposed to be specificaly for fibromyalgia.... it is called Lyrica. It didnt work for my friend and my mom had a bad reaction and couldnt take it, but ask your doctor about it. The best medicine that I took for it and my mom and friend agree, was a muscle relaxer called Soma. Hopefully you can try that.
There is no curing it, its a chronic pain condition you will have for the rest of your life. The Dr. may also put you on medicine for depression, most people that have chronic pain get sad and frustrated by it so the anti depressant helps a ton!!
There is also physical therapy the Dr.s can teach you. I hope yours isnt too bad,

Fibromyalgia, also known as fibrositis or fibromyositis, refers to a disorder of unknown cause that is characterized by recurrent pain in the joints, muscles, or tendons. Often small specific areas called "trigger points" are tender to the touch. Physical strain and cold or damp weather can make the disorder worse. Frequently, the pain is associated with other symptoms, such as insomnia, fatigue, or anxiety. Laboratory tests are usually normal. There are several treatments: physical therapy, warm or cold compresses, anti-inflammatory medication, and sometimes an anesthetic or cortisone injected directly into the trigger points.
The symptoms can wax and wane over many years. And good luck.

I know what you are going through, I have it and it is messing up my life. I have also tried Lyrica, although it didn't help me it may help you. My doctors have tried different combinations of antidepressants and painkillers and nothing really helps. I am still trying to cope with this and remain positive that something will eventually help me. I want to try Cymbalta, which has been tried on FM sufferers and it helps. I have to go see a psychologist for that, my doctor will not prescribe and I stopped seeing my rhuemotologist since he would never really listen to me. I like, the others have said, have depression and it is made worse by the pain and inability to work since I am almost always sleeping.

Just keep on going to your specialists, make sure they know what is going on with you, they can give you shots if you have pains that just won't go away, and if you run into one that doesn't work out for you, try another doctor.

Try exercise, it helps.

Have you seen a doctor (like a rheumotologist, I mean)? I might have it, and my mom and grandma both do. My mom read "The Idiot's Guide to Fibromyalgia," and it helped her because she realized so many weird things about her are normal for people with fibromyalgia. Maybe you should try that. I think I will, too.

I have fibromyalgia. One of the things that I found helpful for easing the pain of fibromyalgia is muscle relaxers. I took one called Skelaxin.
