Has anyone tried Cymbalta for fibromyalgia?

I was wondering how well this medication cymbalta on their fibromyalgia.

Yes I tried it because it was trumped up like some kind of miracle drug made especially for fibro. I took it for 6 weeks and could not tell a bit of difference. That doesn't mean it won't help you. Everyone's chemistry is different. The people I know who gave it the try are off of it now because it was not a good antidepressant either! Best of luck to you with that fibro.

Cymbalta was originally an anti-seizuer medication. My now deceased ex-boyfriend was in a clinical trial on it. That's not why he died though. He responded extremely well to Cymbalta & was given a perscription for it long before it was available to the public. My mom also did a clinical trial for it for depression & had excellent results too. Again, she got on the medication before its release. It wasn't easy for them to get it early but their doctors managed to come through.

I feel bad for those who've been mislead by the fibromyalgia hype & Cymbalta. That wasn't ever the intention with this medication. It was accidentally discovered for depression in the clinical trials for the anti-seizures. A few patients that had depression & seizures had excellent responses to the drug for both medical issues. I don't know anyone who's taken Cymbalta for fibro that's had good results. Most complain it doesn't work & ween themselves off it with their doctor's permission.

Fibro is hard to treat. Some doctors believe it's a figment of the imagination. It's not. It's very real. I've got a mild case of it & don't wish it on anyone. Mine flares up around my menstrual cycle & a few doctors have told me that this can happen. Sometimes, I ache all over & feel like I've been hit by that proverbial Mack truck. I'm currently on Zoloft for my depression & that seems to help a teensy bit. My doctor wants me to try Cymbalta for the depression & I have an appointment this coming week to discuss it, my asthma & a couple other things. I don't expect Cymbalta to help my fibro. I'd rather it helped my depression more.
Yes I have been on this for 2 yrs now and it does help regarding the pain but nothing has helped for the fatigue. I was prescribed Provigil for that but it only worked for a short time.

You can check other peoples opinions of Cymbalta and other kinds they used for fibromyalgia. I found this site when they were "experimenting" on what might work.

I am on cymbalta. It has helped with the pain, along with managing depression. Higher doses can be used for pain. Nothing will make the pain go away completely, as you probably know....and we are moving into peak pain season now.

Ask your doctor about lidoderm patches--really helps localized pain and has no side effects! They work well for me and you can wear a patch for 12 hrs.
