I would like to know what some of the most current up to date things that are being done to treat fibromyalgia |
my mother is struggling with this disease and any info is appreciated. tell her to see a neurologist or neurosurgeon- they can do the most to help her out-- she will not need surgery to treat it, but often only a neurosurgeon can give her the right information on what to do to treat it. from experience- i will tell you that she needs to rest regularly (on a schedule) so that her body doen't get stiff from too much sleep or tired from too little a good memory foam mattress topper will do WONDERS for her pain- sometimes the pressure points from sleep cause extreme discomfort in FIBRO pts. she needs to be extra careful about her diet- it should contain plenty of fiber to help wash away the thingsd she eats that can cause additional inflammation in her body she needs to do light exercise- at least 15 minutes twice a day... to help keep her body from getting too stiff and keep the blood flowing- by light exercise i mean something non-impact and quick paced to get her heart going good... pilates is good for this her best bet is going to be seeing the neurologist ASAP for additional medical tx best of luck to her sorry i have no information - but i hope your mom gets better. There is an article about new treatments at the link below http://chronicfatigue.about.com/od/treat... |
