Has anyone found a treatment plan for Fibromyalgia that works for them?

Alas, it's very difficult to get Fibromalgia under complete control, but yes, it can happen. I have it too, but have other conditions which are worse. Fibro can go into remission though, so always keep that in mind. The best thing you can do is get on a schedule (and I don鈥檛 like schedules but it will help once you establish one) - go to bed at the same time, get up, eat, exercise, etc. on a time schedule. This allows your body to set itself better and can allow you to sleep better at night. That leads into the next thing. You need to be able to sleep, and when you don't, you only feel 10 times worse the next day. If you need to take Ambien, a benzo, or natural supplements, then please do so. Take them every night; honestly this isn鈥檛 the time to worry about getting physically dependent since sleep is the most important thing you can do. If you can start getting regular sleep for 8-9 hours a night, the flu-like feeling will get better, along with the headaches, some muscle/joint pain, and even pain sensitivity will decrease. I have problems with regulating my temperature. One moment I'm cold then hot and sweating. The best thing you can do at night is sleep with the AC around 68 degrees鈥t鈥檚 even worth putting a window unit in your bedroom and keeping the rest of the house warmer with a central unit. It will be worth the extra electricity cost, trust me! The coolness will help you sleep deeper, plus you can keep a blanket on your bed (the blanket's weight can help with the pain). I also go to sleep with a heating pad on a timer. The heat helps me relax and dull some of the pain/achy feeling. Also, exercise helps because it increases your endorphin level and stretches your body out, helping the muscles and joints and allowing you to be more tired at night. Pain meds do help, but try to take as little as possible (but enough to keep your pain scale down) so that when you have flare-ups or BTP during the day, it will help more. Diet is important, especially if you have food sensitivities. Lastly, make sure to take care of yourself and keep as much stress off as you can. That may mean a less stressful job or fewer hours until you get symptoms under control. Do something everyday you can look forward to, whether it be watching a movie, going shopping, or just being with family. It really helps your mood level to look forward to at least one thing during the day. Plus it will encourage you to get up everyday and make yourself function. Also, baths can really, really help. Mornings are hard for most of us Fibros, so when you get up, go turn on the hot water, sit down while the tub fills, and then get in first thing. If you can cut your pain down in the beginning of the day, the rest of if can be a lot easier. Hope this helps. Email if you'd like to talk. Source(s): I'm 25 and had Fibromyalgia the past 7 years.
no, and I sure wish they could come up with a cure or, at the very least a way to get rid of the pain. I hate being on pain killers all the time. but that is the only thing that works for me.

some people have gotten relief from the pain with acupuncture.

some with physical therapy, if that's where you want to spend over 1/2 of your life.

a lot of Dr.'s don't even believe it exists. Ha ! let them live a week in our shoes, huh ?
My friend's wife has it, and she swears by regular chiropractic visits she has told me that after a visit, she usually doesn't have to take pain medication for 4 days to a week after her visit ...granted I'm biased being in chiropractic school, but many people suffering from fibromyalgia have gotten relief from chiropractic treatments. I have also heard that accupuncture works well, and a combination of both treatments and different physical therapy exercises and modalities can greatly improve the quality of life for people such as yourself. Keep in mind that many chiropractors are different, so you should call first to see if they have treated patients with fibromyalgia, and possibly visit to see if they can help you, The chiropractor my friend goes to mainly uses Activator, which is excellent , especially for people who haven't been to a chiropractor, or fear that we are only going to "crunch and crack" your bones. Best of luck
