Have you tried guaifenesin for fibromyalgia? |
i am having trouble finding guaifenesin in other than cough syrup products. i am searching for a reliable online source. if you have had success with this treatment, please let me know and where you were able to purchase it. thanks to all I have heard of a few that have had some sucess with the Gui treatment. Remember though that you must stick to the diet that they suggest as well for it to work. There is a Dr that has written a few books about it and it will give you all the information that you could need to give it a try. Check out the link that I post at the bottom for the Gui products available online. I have heard that it's a good place to get it. I have to tell you that it did nothing for me personally. I have secondary FMS though and this could be why. I also have MCTD. So, that may be the only reason that it won't work in my case. God luck to you. I always say I'll try anything once. If it's not expensive and will do no harm, then why not! Source(s): http://www.immunesupport.com/shop/produc... Men Surviving FMS are you sure you have the right drug? guaifenesin is used primarily for thinning mucus... otc you really only find it in cough syrups... although they do have pills that are pure guaifenesin for upper respitory problems... never heard of it being used for fibromyalgia... but with as many upper respitory problems as i have with the fibro, i can say my personal experience is that guaifenesin doesnt do anything for my fibro issues personal experience I have fibromyalgia, and find it to be of no value. The research I've read is dicey---there isn't much evidence to support its use. That said, if you want to give it a try, plain Mucinex (not Mucinex-D, which contains dextromethorphan) has guaifenesin as its only ingredient---as does plain Robitussin. Guaifenesin is marketed as a cough preparation because its primary use is as an expectorant; it loosens secretions. I hope you find good relief :) I would recommend looking on WEB MD. I seem to recall that this is the generic name and is similiar to a cough medicine known as Robitussin, but it is prescribed in generic form and not an OTC drug like Robitussin. Gua can be found at most drug stores inc. discount stores under the Brand Name MUCINEX |
