What do the police have against physical fitness?

I am a business owner and everyday I walk or run to the bank that is 1/2 mile away. One day I was running to the bank and a police drove by and stopped me and asked me why I was running with a bank bag. Hmmm... Isn't that the quickest way to get from point A to point B, running? If someone was doing something wrong, then that person would not be holding up a bank bag and running, he would be concealing it and walking stealthfully. Duh.

Most criminals run away from a crime scene. You own a business- what if you were just robbed and an officer on patrol saw a man running from the scene and he didn't stop him based on your reasoning- you would be upset that the officers didn't do their job. Your running with a bank bag raised the officer's suspicion and he checked you out and found that everything was OK- that is part of his job. Criminals aren't geniuses. I have arrested some that were running with things that they have stolen. You should be thankful that the officer was patrolling your business district and was paying attention to his surroundings

Most criminals are not stealthy ninjas, they're clumsy idiots. That's why they turn to crime, 'cause they can't get any other kind of job.Then they do dumb things, like rob a pizza parlor and run down the street with a bag of money. That's how they get caught, and the officer was looking to see if you were one of those dumb criminals. Most cops can't read minds, and if his Crime-o-Matic Criminal Activity Detector was on the fritz, the only other option was to stop and ask you what you're doing. It seems that your answer was satisfactory to him, and you did not get arrested - for this minor irritation, you should be glad a cop actually paid attention, and was concerned a crime might be in progress - he was looking to protect YOU. Now this cop knows who you are, and that you are not a criminal, so if you were respectful to him, he will know to watch out for you!

If, on the other hand, he was rude and disrespectful to you, you should take that up with your ombudsman or council person. But I have found that most cops are quite friendly when you are respectful towards them.

If someone had just robbed your store and was running away with a bank bag, and a police officer saw him running but did not stop him, then what would you say? The officer was just making a quick investigation into something that looked a little suspicious. If it was indeed a criminal and he didn't stop him, then you would also be upset. You can't have it both ways.

It's not like television or the movies. Most of these criminals just run away as fast as they can. Duh.

Like we have never ever caught a bank robber running down the street with the bag visible.

I'm sure you would be the first to complain if the police didn't investigate a possible suspect if you had been victimized by crime.

not necessarily, many criminals are not at all bright and will commit a crime without planning it. They go, rob the bank, and flee. They don't think about how they'll get away or the chases they have of getting caught.

Well, people are more suspicious these days because of how many crimes do actually happen and they may have been taught to not trust anyone but yourself. But it's mainly because of many crimes that are happening.

somebody you see running out of your business with merchandise. now,he might have paid for it already. but wouldn't that raise your suspicions?
