I have the flu, cough, head and body aches, fever how do i get better by tomorrow?

Have you seen your doctor yet? I know it sounds like a useless question, but I felt AWFUL the last few days, cough, aches, fever, sore throat, the whole thing. I tried to just drink lots of water and take Theraflu and I stayed home from work, and this morning when I got up I felt just as awful as ever.

I saw the doctor, and they said antibiotics wouldn't help (I kinda figured.) But they DID give me Guaifenesin (Robutussin) with codeine. I haven't been able to sleep for a couple days, and the cough was making my whole chest hurt. I took the medicine and slept most of the day, and already I feel tons better. Not perfect sure, but just being able to sleep was AMAZINGLY helpful.

The flu definitely has to run its course, and antibiotics won't help a virus. But treating the symptoms helps, and the doctor can sometimes proscribe something better than what you can pick up over the counter.

There is absolutely no way you can get better by tomorrow. The flu has to run it's course -- which is generally 7 to 10 days from the onset of symptoms. The best you can hope for it to get relief from the symptoms. Take some Ibuprofin (Advil or Motrin) for the fever, head ache and body aches, and suck on a cough drop to help with your cough.
