Pregnant with the flu? |
Is there anything over the counter besides tylenol that is safe to take while pregnant if you have the flu? No, not really. And honestly, even if you weren't pregnant- there really isn't anything out there that works worth a patoot. Flu is a virus, and has to be wiped out by the body's immune system. If the nausea is a problem, ginger ale sipped at room temp helps. So does nibbling on bits of candied ginger, and ginger tea. Aside from that, it's just all the fluids you can stand, and sleeping through it as best you can. Lower the temp in the room slightly, helps make it easier to breathe. Prop yourself up on pillows, or sleep propped up on the sofa or in a chair. Vicks Vapor Rub helps with the stuffiness and aches in the chest. But otherwise, it's just time that cures. Your obstetrician can give you recommendations of what is safe to take for the specific symptoms that you are having. Best advise is to rest and sleep and drink lots of fluids. |
