Had flu 3 weeks ago, but still coughing. No other symptoms-- normal?

I had the flu a while back, and have been healed up and feel fine for the last 3 weeks. However, I still cough from time to time, mostly a dry cough. It feels like my lungs are just itchy, and if it's cold outside, it gets worse, or if I drink something cold. Is this normal? And how long should I expect this to go on? Other than the coughing, I feel great. The flu I had lasted about a week and was confirmed as flu by my doctor. I took Tamiflu, but it only helped so-so since I started it late. Thanks!

Well, you could just have a persistant cough. My coughs usually last for several weeks after the flu.

It could also be pneumonia caused by "Mycoplasma pneumoniea". This type of pneumonia gives only a slight fever, which makes it more difficult to detect.

I had this type of pneumonia once and waited way too long to go to the doctor, because I thought it was just a persistant coughs. I felt fine otherwise and never even thought of taking my temperature. The doc gave me a good scolding for that.

I would suggest checking your temperature regularly, if it's even just a little higher than normal, you should see a doctor. Same thing if you start feeling sick again or if you experience the slightest shortness of breath or if your cough isn't improving. Better to be safe than sorry.

I am the same way, I did see my doctor and he gave me a specialist that deals with allergies. This may be what is happening to you. I did see the allergist and i am taking shots to stop the coughing, plus I made a big life change in my house to stop the coughing. you may have the same thing.

Here are a few simple home remedies that will help to overcome cough. Have honey in a hot drink before bed time.To relieve fits of coughing due to dryness in the throat, suck a few pepper corns. Check out http://useinfo6.blogspot.com/ for more remedies and information.
